Focus08 you are right that it means the same thing.

However, if the question specifically asks for an answer in British currency then "£10.20" would be the correct format.

I would imagine it's possible to lose a mark over this.

you could lose a mark tops, just like you would lose a mark for not putting in a unit

You realise that this seems to be foundation GCSE or KS3 so there's probably a mark for the correct answer i.e. £10.20
