We had a female IT student in our halls, she never left her room to socialise and all she would do is play lord of the rings online. She had a boyfriend who she had never met before on the game, he visited her for the first time when she was staying in halls, he was a serious swedish wierdo!
About 2months after that she moved to another room, as we had apparently been too noisy and 'forced' her to drink a VK.

Without wanting to depress you OP experiences like this are quite common. There are so many crazies out there.

In my first year I lived with one girl who literally blanked me for the rest of the academic year (from about November to June) because I asked her (politely) to do her share of the washing up in October. She also ran up lots and lots of debt on store cards so we had bailiffs round, and when she owed me money for bills she refused to pay it. Full stop. I'm still about £200 out of pocket now because of it, but because of court costs/etc, there wasn't really much I could do.

Yeah, I understand. I knew university couldn't be 100% amazingness! I was just curious as to the kind of things that happened. But wtf at that girl you lived with ^ do you still see her now?

Thankfully not, I've now finished and moved away but didn't see her after the first year either.

The main thing to watch out for is probably spoilt people. They know their parents will bail them out no matter what and it's normally patently obvious when someones never been asked to pull their weight/clean a bathroom/take responsibility for their own mess!
I'm glad I'm going catered by the sounds of this, one thing that annoys me more than anything in a living situation is people who will gladly eat, drink and use everything on offer, but aren't prepared to do any cleaning or help out at all.. I'd be losing my temper on a daily basis with people like that..

Which Uni is that at?

I'm applying to Nottingham who offer brunch and dinner on weekends.. But I'd probably go for a fry-up on sunday mornings

First year in halls was put in to a flat with two males (i'm female & was 18). One was a fair bit older and went home wednesday - monday so I didn't see him for weeks at a time. The other was heavily in to drugs and would spend days at a time in his room, was also dealing from the flat. Also moved all his dj equipment in to the kitchen and covered every surface. Would play drum and bass so loud things fell off my shelves.

After weeks of appealing to be moved finally changed flats and loved it for two weeks till my room started flooding everytime it rained (at least an inch of water on my carpet) so everything got moudly and I got ill.

During this time I got post viral fatigue syndrome (probably from trying to recover from an illness in a moudly room) and decided I hated my course. Do I win?
Realising I forgot to submit something on time, my heart sunk.
I tend to think that it would be much more interesting and useful for all TSR users to talk about most interesting/pleasant experience/s at university.

Brighton.
My friend in Aberdeen had that set up for the weekends.
Well first year consisted mainly of spiralling depression, noisy people in my halls, financial ruin (my own fault), and poor academic performance (also my own fault).
Luckily first year doesn't count for anything, and second year has been much better! Awesome actually. Funny how things can turn around.

My only complaint now is that I don't really have any friends that I feel are on the same sort of "wavelength" as me... I have friends but they're... meh. Won't miss them after Uni.
