Benefits of Oncology as Work Experience for Medicine Application?

I worked in the Oncology department in an Italian hospital for a week.
I want to apply to Medicine for 2011 entry, so I have started working on my personal statement.

What would you say are important skills and things which I could have gotten out of doing morning rounds, getting to know patients, looking at their CT and PET scans, general consults and checkups for recurring disease, and having to watch a doctor deliver bad news to patients?

Please I just want to check I haven't missed out anything major

Also, what would you suggest would be good things to put as reasons for doing medicine. Obviously fascination for human anatomy and how it works is a bit too cliché, even if true. But... any ideas of what I should structure my introduction around? What are good reasons for wanting to do medicine?
Don't get me wrong I'm not lying in my application, but I really really want to get in and I'm having trouble expressing why in words.

Thank you
