Re: The European/World Football Thread IIThey are owned by Americans, thats why he has signed for them. Kind of like the Abramovich/Russian player vanity project when he first bought the club.(Original post by boumavilla)
WOW! He was never that great at Villa (when he played). That's a step-up for him! -
Re: The European/World Football Thread II
If Verratti joins PSG, I will be livid. One of the brightest prospects in Italian football and touted as the successor to Pirlo, Verratti is going to warm the bench in Paris for €1.8m per season. The kid is 19... nineteen.

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIYeah I was shocked when I heard this today as well, seems such an odd move for both sides though.(Original post by I Kant Spall)

Why do PSG even want him? Considering the transfer strategy is marquee signings...
Why would Verratti go there? I'm sure he had an agreement to go to Juventus or even simply stay in Italy
Crazy crazy situation
Only reason why I care is that he's absolutely unreal on Football Manager

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIDominguez has just moved to Gladbach.(Original post by jam277)
Botia and dominguez, botia was a product of barca's youth squad and was mentioned as a possible replacement for puyol, I think he plays for sporting, dominguez was the main defender for the U21's success and plays for atletico madrid.
Azpilcueta is quality, plays for marseille and I think he is their first choice right back, surely a better option than montoya who doesn't get many games for barcas main squad. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIOh ok, looks like gladbach are trying to go places, but I dunno why atletico are selling their young stars so easily, they sold camacho to malaga last season, now they've sold dominguez to mondengladbach.(Original post by CB91)
Dominguez has just moved to Gladbach.
I also don't know what they're gonna do when we get back courtois from them, how I want them to displace valencia in the top 4 so badly as I think they've been getting 3rd place with ease in recent seasons like it's their right, they were closing the gap on barca at one point. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIGladbach are rebuilding and hopefully will be a force in German football soon. They may have sold Dante and Reus but they've brought in Dominguez, Xhaka and if the rumours are true they'll be getting Hoilett as well.(Original post by jam277)

Atletico is such a shoddily run club. They bring a whole new meaning to word inconsistency all the way through the club.Last edited by CB91; 06-07-2012 at 11:19. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIHopefully with gladbach, I see them going above schalke and with the right management possibly being like dortmund, but if the VDV to schalke rumours are true then I doubt they'll go above them this season.(Original post by CB91)

Atletico are a joke, it's great they brought in diego simeone, he got the players working very well when he came in (europa league final showed it very well)
But they just make too many wrong decisions, ok they mugged off inter with forlan and sold aguero for a fair price, but they then sell camacho for 2.5 million and now sell dominguez. Also read that they got rid of raul to real madrid because they shut down their youth academy(who shuts down their youth academy to save money?) They also sell reyes for 3 million.
Sergio asenjo had so much promise, but now I doubt he'll be a starter for atletico, not that I care, the more experience courtois gets the better for us anyway. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIAnd they signed Falcao when they basically can't afford to keep up with the payments.(Original post by jam277)

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIGambling on CL football. Idiots(Original post by CB91)
And they signed Falcao when they basically can't afford to keep up with the payments.

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIWasn't it completely funded by the Aguero sale, though?(Original post by CB91)

Re: The European/World Football Thread III know. It's annoying as they have such good talent, but these decisions just mess it up.(Original post by CB91)

Oh well, anyway, who do you think will win la liga next season? My bet is real madrid, both teams to get 90 points again and barca missing out by 2-3 points. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread II(Original post by jam277)
The transfer fee was, wages, signing on fees and others weren't, think rarara was saying that atletico had to use a third party in order to pay porto for falcao, so now they have to pay the third party money for him.Oh. That's interesting. So if they continue to struggle financially, we could see a Tevezesque scenario wrt Falcao? (The whole third-party ownership thing.)(Original post by Laertes)
No. That went towards debts. I can't remember if it went to the bank or to the tax-man, though. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIEspecially when the 1st and 2nd are virtually guaranteed and then you have 6-7 teams fighting for 3rd and 4th.

Pretty much what Jam said here. I also think a lot of the Aguero/Forlan fee went on their debt repayments. In other words, they couldn't afford him.(Original post by jam277)

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIScary times for inter, I dunno how this is going to work out, I think they'll come third although napoli and udinese are losing their key players too so it's just going to cause a bigger imbalance, roma look like the only stable club bar juve and milan in the top 7, I doubt they'll be a challenge for inter, but I see them coming 4th or napoli to come 4th. Udinese cannot afford to keep on selling their best players.(Original post by Kevmeister)
Julio Cesar is set to leave Inter, after they agreed terms for the transfer of Handanovic from Udinese.
Stankovic, Cesar and Forlan have not been called up for pre-season training.
Looks like mourinho knew that inter was going to be a mess when he jumped ship. Coming off the back of a treble win too.
