Re: The European/World Football Thread IIThe only logically thing would be that Neymar needed money now so he sold his rights long term for money in the short term? Otherwise I can't see why he would make that deal?(Original post by Mess.)
Must have been forced into that for some underhand reason. A player with his potential earning rights shouldn't be doing something as ridiculous as that. Also, that appears to have ruled him out of a move to Real Madrid as they normally force an image rights control clause into their contracts
(With a few obvious exceptions who they had to negotiate with).

Re: The European/World Football Thread IISaw that as well. Didn't Milan turn down a 40m Euro bid for Silva alone from PSG though?(Original post by bluenose14)
The Footy Show @TheFootyShowKCC
Sky Italia reporting #Milan and #PSG have reached an accord over sale of Ibrahimovic & Thiago Silva. All down to players now. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IINot if they can replace them (I know, very hard). They would've only got one more year out of Ibra anyway, might as well get some money for him now.(Original post by TheInvincibles14)
That sounds like such BS. Milan selling their two best players turns them from being a competitive team to a team that's struggling for CL qualification. Surely Berlusconi will step in again. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread IIAny arguments in favour of selling Ibra are redundant imo, he's still a top player. He could play until 35 easily, his ability may diminish as he gets older but he'd still be a good player to have in the team. Totti has managed it just fine and take a look at Di Natale's age and then look at how many goals he's scored the past three seasons. Thiago Silva is indespendable btw, the best defender in Europe.(Original post by internetstephen)

Re: The European/World Football Thread IINo player is indispensable, especially not for the right amount of money. If transfers go the way they look like then this could be Milan's team next year: Abbiati, Abate, Acerbi, Dede, Kolarov; Montolivo, Diarra, Nocerino, Boateng, Cassano, Pato.(Original post by TheInvincibles14)

Still a very good team that would definitely challenge for the league and possibly be able to do something in Europe. A couple more quality signings from the Silva/Ibra money and that's a great team. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread II
I think MIlan managing to lose Thiago Silva, who I've seen say he'd love to finish his career there, would be ineptitude of the highest order. Someone like Acerbi is very raw, and to have lost a pair of Nesta (even at his age he showed his class last year) and Silva would hurt anyone. Let's not forget that it would leave Mexes as the defensive leader in all probability....
Ibra going would be easier to cope with, although he was capocannonierre last season, and pretty useful assists-wise. It'd reflect pretty badly on the league as a whole though.
Despite all this, I do like the look of that team above, although I've got reservations at centre half! (Mainly because the midfield four seems really balanced.) Would hinge on keeping Pato fit though, or someone like el Sharaawy stepping up. -
Re: The European/World Football Thread II

I hope so.

Most assists, all comps (Club+NT) 2011/12, Europe's Top 5 Leagues: #Messi 33 - #Ozil 31 - #Silva 24 - #Cesc, #Benzema, #Ribery, #Mata 21.Last edited by CB91; 12-07-2012 at 01:59. -

Re: The European/World Football Thread IIThey'll just resign Seedorf, Nesta and Inzaghi(Original post by Kevmeister)
Capello in talks with the Russian FA about becoming the new Russia manager. ....
Apparently Thiago Silva has agreed terms with PSG, while Ibra is still mulling over their offer. If it goes through expect Milan to spend half the money on replacements.
