allthough i plan to have a car licence by uni, i proberbly wont have a car, i will however have my shiny motorbike (which really needs a clean!)
Can't drive and will never be able to as long I'm epileptic. And I will be for the foreseeable future.
I am ridiculously worried as to how it will affect my life.

Sure, if you want to take twice the time to get nowhere near where you're going.
Also a serious pain if you're trying to move anything like shopping... groceries on the bus... FML.

I agree. When I'm at home, I have shops a 5 min walk away and supermarkets an 8 min bus ride away from outside my house. At uni this isn't the case, and coming home with a weeks worth of groceries when you have to walk at least 15 minutes from the town centre can cripple you, so a car is definitely a bonus.

i don't drive but i really want to, but i don't think i can afford it :/ fml
Got my provis, but there's not much point me learning before uni as I wouldn't be able to take a car anyway, plus I have the whole heavy handed/footed thing, so I'm kinda scared of what I'd be like behind the wheel of a car. After uni though, gonna start learning.
Im about go into 2nd year uni. Not having a car had no affect on my uni life at all. Public transport is good in my city. I will only learn to drive after my final exam, because a lot of grad schemes ask for a full driving license. Driving is too expensive and I socialise far too much to be sober enough to fully appreciate that expense.

I don't. But I am taking lessons :p:.
I don't drive and won't until after uni
Im learning.
I've got a licence but I can't afford a car which is really annoying. Especially as I'm going to uni in Wales and they have some really cool roads.

I'm not at uni yet but I don't drive and don't intend to learn before uni. I would quite like to drive but for now it just doesn't seem worth all the money when I manage fine with walking, public transport and getting lifts off other people. I'll probably learn after uni.

Driven since I was 17. Don't need to drive at uni (Although it'd be nice to have a car to drive back to swindon in, 3 hour train ride for the lose) everythings in walking distance at plymouth though.

Can't imagine not wanting to drive though, I still love it, it's freedom. You can't be sat up at 3 in the morning thinking "****, I wanna go have a cup of tea up barbury castle" with public transport. Me, I just hop in my car, flask of tea and go out for a lovely little drive to have a cuppa and a fag in the middle of nowhere.

Pretty much need to drive to get to my work anyway, buses don't run at the hours I come out of work and it's a massive trek home. I suppose it's alright if you've lived a sheltered life, never worked, parents carting you about, but for me I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wouldn't you want to pass your driving test as early as possible, even though you don't want to drive in the near future?.

No. I'll do it when I can afford it.

meeee!! i dont drive!
It would be silly to take a car to uni, so much money when you really could walk or take a bus or cycle or get a taxi if you really really need to get somewhere..

I am learning though, and have my test booked.

How do you feel about it? Has it impacted your University lifestyle?

Yes, I don't drive. Banned for life 7 years ago.
Uni is around 3 hour round trip by bus (2 buses each way) and the service to my village after 7pm is poor. Lectures can go on to 9.30 at night, so was fun getting home to grab some dinner and get to bed ready for work next day.
My wife drives so luckily enough if she's not working she can pick me up in town. Picking me up at the Uni is a tad expensive in petrol, about 1.5 gallons fuel.

Its meant not going out with the lads after an evening lecture for a drink. Apart from that its fine - car is there in an emergency but for normal use bus gets me there OK.

I'm 18 next week and haven't learned to drive. I'm not particularly bothered.

I can't drive. Isn't an issue at home, isn't an issue at uni except when i'm on placement. Really need to pass my test before I graduate next July. Need a kick up the arse because i've no real desire to learn, just know that I need to.

If anyone is good at being a motivator and can provide that kick that would be awesome.
