So my account still can't access Multiplayer Quick Matches... fml.

No reply for my ticket either, so I'm stuck entering tournaments on Playhem, which are quite fun actually. There's something nearly every day too!

Also, anyone else have problems with 6-9 pooling zerg on 4-base maps? If you scout them in the last position then you can't defend against it, to the best of my knowledge.. :/

i assume you play toss, as terran cant be 6pooled and defending 6pool as zerg is piss easy if scouted

if you went for ffe, pop a pylon in your mineral line, and a cannon
you will lose the forge and pylon on the lowe ground, but have a massive economic lead and then just 4gate

also, you only ever need to scout 2 positions, you can blacklist the maps with 3 possible spawns (its only tal darim and condemned ridge anyway i think)

a la protoss, I can easily beat a 6-pool if I scout it at the first or second spots, but if it's the third location on a tourney map then I'm buggered, and was!

i just realised, you cant 6pool on large 3 spawn 4 player maps. the zerg woud need to use a drone before lings to scout your position (or at least 2 positions), or use maphacks, or get incrediby lucky. therefore, its really unlikely you will be 6pooled on a 4 player map. Perhaps the map was always cross positions?

Well in this case it was a 9-pool, but what I suspect they do is send an overlord to the close-air, and then they run 6 lings to check both of the other locations. Even if I get the zealot Holding in the wall-off it doesn't work, since the lings just start eating both zealot and gateway, and they're through before the cannon is up. Basically the worst-case scenario is they take longer to get in and waste more lings, but they still get through eventually, if the protoss has been using chrono efficiently. Ironically, if the protoss is bad they'd actually have more chrono and be able to do a 2-gateway 1 forge defend, but unless you can speed-build 3 zealots you can't bring enough offensive damage to bear. Idk, it's rough

    :ahee:

Not in a tournament, too cheesy. Might have to number crunch.. A 9-pool has lings halfway to your base before your probe scouts them, if they're in the last position. Would you have a wall built by then, if you went x2 pylon, forge, gateway :beard:

Perhaps this calculation will help? Not sure about the order because I am not Protoss.

FFE holds against 6 pool. As your scout moves over to the 2nd possible position, send another to the 3rd possible position. If you see any aggressive, immediately drop the forge (if you haven't already (realistically, 13/14 forge and you will be even safer even though its not quite as good economically), and pylon behind the mineral line in the main. Get that cannon up in the mineral line whatever the cost, pull probes cautiously to make them chase you around till its done, and you are absolutely fine. Its worth losing a small % of income early game to avoid losing to cheese.

    Fixed it!!!

What causes it is a corrupted file in your Cache, which you find in C: / ProgramData (hidden folder) and then a bunch of files until you get there. Then you need to find the corrupted file by opening each folder separately. Or uninstall the game, re-install it and then watch your computer whilst it patches. It'll keep saying some part of each patch failed to install because of a corrupted folder, and it'll tell you the folder's name. Let SCII reinstall fully, go to that folder in the Cache, and re-name it (doesn't let you delete). Then start starcraft and it'll repair itself!

Same, my problem is control groups. Like whenever I make new units I have to go back to my army, highlight them, and hit control+1. And then if there's any workers near they get added aswell, so I have to move the army in to a space where there's no workers. I then have to add them to their specific control group (i.e. so I can use their abilities). Also, I know the optimal amount of workers is 2 per node, but I wish there was an easier way of telling how many workers are at each node, I never know if they'll adjust themselves so that they split 2/2 instead of 1/3 or something. I spend so much time doing things that I think other people can do in seconds.

Use shift to add units to any already existing control group you don't even have to have the control group selected to add new units to it, just select the new ones you just made, hit shift+1, and they will be added to group 1.

As for mining, they do adjust themselves, its not worth worrying about this. "optimal" refers to income/worker, you can actually have up to 24 workers total and it will still increase the income. Just select all the workers around each base , and quickly scan the number of lines. If its about 2 and a half lines, you have the right number, if its less, you have too few.
