    =(

Same, my problem is control groups. Like whenever I make new units I have to go back to my army, highlight them, and hit control+1. And then if there's any workers near they get added aswell, so I have to move the army in to a space where there's no workers. I then have to add them to their specific control group (i.e. so I can use their abilities). Also, I know the optimal amount of workers is 2 per node, but I wish there was an easier way of telling how many workers are at each node, I never know if they'll adjust themselves so that they split 2/2 instead of 1/3 or something. I spend so much time doing things that I think other people can do in seconds.
This is the thing i struggle with im suprised it doesn't do it automatically and i spend alot of time grouping things, this is a big struggle when trying to maintain my base while attacking. This is also difficult when your certain types of units are not in the same area.

Starting to get into this atm but really struggling with hot keys and macros any one got any tips??
When you say 'macros', I presume you simply mean macro? Tell us what race you are playing and then people here that play that particular race will be able to help you out

It wouldn't work if it automatically grouped your army onto one hotkey because if you watch professional play, different parts of the army often get put onto different hotkeys. Also if you are having problems maintaining your economy and getting an attack going at the the same time, you can always 'A-move' your army and focus entirely on your macro. I know simply attack moving your army is frowned upon and won't work in the higher leagues, but in the lower leagues purely better macro will win you a lot of games.

Im using terrain, I typically group units together and army together but its just hard keep tracking of units across your base to ensure they are all grouped.

What people typically do is have their entire army grouped onto a single hotkey, and then have specific units grouped onto additional hotkeys. So you can move the entire army using the 'main' group, and then flick to the more individual groups to position everything better before a fight.

Also are you using rally points? Click a production building and right click to set a rally point, then the created units will automatically move to that location. Means you can have all built units group up at the front of your base, so you can easily select everything, group it to a hotkey, and go

    Nice hoodie.

I swear the only reason I support EG is cause of Idra. He just gives the Starcraft 2 professional scene that edge and slight bit of controversy. Idra for the win!

Pretty great video for highlighting Idra moments, the good and the bad.

His reaction to winning IEM Guangzhou was hilarious as well, you would think he had lost the match not won the whole tournament judging from his reaction.

What most people usually do is have their production buildings in a control group too, that way you can set the rally points for them all at the same time, and as you add new production, you add this to the control group and set the rally point again, meaning everything turns up in the same place.

I don't play anymore and only ever got to gold/platinum 1v1 it got to boring... But I used to play Protoss I had a very good 4 gate. I put a worker on the first tab to shortcut that way I can build stuff fast, and my nexus on tab 2 then click 2c to get that think which speeds stuff up. Then army on 3 if I'm adventurous :P it's quite an easy game up to diamond people act like its the hardest most complicated thing in the world.

I'd suggest watching DApollo's beginner videos for whichever race you play, on youtube, that way you can at least see how he organises his production and units.

Then, when you've mastered those basics, you can watch them again to learn how to develop a solid army in a safe, secure way, and just crush your opponents by having 'more things' than him

Stopped reading past that point I'm afraid patches fixed that, 4-gates nowadays only work vs. below-golds and not even in silver for PvP

I wouldn't say it's easy to get to diamond, maybe if you only play 1-base rushing micro games your W/L ratio will tend you towards getting promoted, but I almost exclusively play macro games, if I see my opponent fast-expanding then I'll generally just match them with an expansion of my own, rather than rolling the dice on an all-in

Why is it that every single protoss player listed in teamliquid's 'Featured Streams' is playing BW... seriously wtf.

It's basically 1 terran, 1/2 BW protoss, IGN, 3+ zergs every time I look

I need to get better at denying zergs their map control, so that I don't give them time to build an army when I attack :/

Currently they just drone their asses off, I move across the map, they pump out an army, defend in a war of attrition, I retreat, they take more bases, etc.

I guess the reason why in the latest Tournament (MLG Summer Arena) it was almost a Protoss vs Protoss final and not a single Zerg player made it into the top 4 while a Terran player won was simply due to the fact that all these Zerg players were awful and the rest of the Protoss\Terran were awesome. Right?

Simply a matter of outplaying the opponent no matter what the race. Sure on certain maps and match-ups one will have the advantage but just have to overcome it.
