today i got owned by a guy with protoss. looking for some advice

he had amassed a giant army of stalkers and everything i attacked him with, including in late stages a set of 8 battlecruisers got destroyed. must have had 40+ stalkers. any advice on units especially effective vs stalkers?

I'm guessing you're playing T then? A group of marauders with conc. shells and stims should wipe the floor with stalkers. (obviously some medivacs too). If you micro them back so you fire, run back a bit, hit stop (so they fire), then run back again the stalkers will not be happy bunnies . Marines are pretty good too so throw some of them in.

Obviously some siege tanks would help too .

What league are people in?

Yeah, a well placed EMP(s) helps tremendously. MMM ball with a few ghosts, stim and a couple of tanks/PDDs will wreck pure stalkers. Although when against a good toss, micro becomes so ******* important due to storm/charge zlots.

sorry guys, im new to this.

what does micro, MMM and EMP mean? i assume St is seige tank. my problem was attacking. defence held up well with tanks. couldnt attack his base on sheer number of stalkers. i shall try marauders next

also, are there any decent websites advising which units are most effective against each?

oh and you asked what league im in. im just doing the practice league thing of 50 games. 7 wins 7 losses so far. more practice required!

Just got put in bronze league (probably because I am god damn awful but I'm blaming it on the fact i play on a laptop and the touchpad is not at all sensitive enough which pretty rules out micro)
And regarding sites for finding unit counters etc look for liquipedia - its a starcraft wiki with lots and ots of useful info

I'm being careful not to play too much custom . In WC3 I played a reasonable amount of ladder then got sucked into custom (damn you Wintermaul!) and never came out again .

I've been playing for about a month, not played sc1 so I'm new to this genre - I'm currently ranked 10 in Silver - 54wins to 35 losses.

I have been watching plenty of vids and streams to help me improve and I can play all 3 races quite well. I found learning the other races has helped me become so much better as you know what each unit does and how to counter it.

my uncle was telling me all the elite players play without a mouse..... anyone here just use hotkeys? seems impossible to me at the moment

Without a mouse? That's physically impossible . But yeah, building units and buildings etc and special abilities you should always use the hotkey for it
