So recently i didn't have a chance to shave for 3 days and grew quite hairy face pubes. Anyway i thought 'whoah if i shaved my cheeks and neck i could totally have a goatee' and, having done that, i now have a goatee and I daresay it looks quite sexay.

Now it's clear my goatee was an accidental manifestation, but some people actually purposely set out to grow these and it takes them much more than 3-4 days (not being very Indian and therefore hairy), and i'm wondering why do they do it? It's been said that your hairstyle represents who you are; short is supposedly someone respecting authority. Long hair is for rebels, ponytails is for little girls or women who want to be little girls, and baldness is for those who want cancer. Similarly a thick upper lip 'tash represents power - it's called the 'sheriff moustache', so what does a goatee represent? If i were to hazard a guess i'd say that it oozes bohemian sophistication, almost hipster like. It also seems a bit arrogant, although that might just be because it's on my face.

So i'm wondering, what are other people's feelings on the goatee and what it represents?

Also for guise if you've ever had a goatee and want to show off feel free to post pics . And adding a poll to see if you've ever had a goatee.

goatee at this age looks really bad - i'd say you should be 35-40plus to look decent in one!

I went through a goatee phase a while ago. Then I realised it made me look like a dickhead and stopped. Can't comment on whether it will suit you. Perhaps photos would help.

crafted facial hair always looks bad. you probably look like a knob.

just thought i'd edit and really drive home my hatred for goatees, face frames (or whatever they're called), or anything else that falls outside of 'beard' and 'no beard'. YOU LOOK LIKE A **** AND IT ISN'T SEXY. no the girls arn't swooning, they're staring because they can't get over how much of a boob you look.

It represents that you like Stalin. I had the Stalin-goatee. I loved it first but I changed my mind... somehow.
(I'm not a Stalin fan, btw.- just in case fun-detectors are not working at this hour)

I'm rocking a bit of a 'tee atm, trying to go for the Grohl look. Only problem is, my 'stache isn't isn't as thick as I'd like it

My boyfriend has one. Apparently he used to look like that Chad Kroeger (?) guy. Then he shaved off all his hair but refused to get rid of the goaty. His apparently started off as accidently as well, I think he just keeps it to annoy me...

It means you're a hipster tosspot, borderline gay... exceptions made for the French.

Disclaimer: I'm cultivating one right atm. In all seriousness, it is a pretty sophisticated look and I think the girls like it.

Being almost every race from saudia arabia to india, I can kinda get away with it, only because I have super curly jew-fro hair as well. Although my friends with straight hair who have it, it doesn't really seem to work for them, nor do their uber-thin chin straps.
