Reapplying and resitting

Hi there,
I was unsuccessful in gaining a place at university this 2009/2010 year and also got my leavers qualification (IB) this Summer which unfortunately do not meet the entry requirement of the course I wish to do.
Therefore I will be taking a gap year and resitting a couple of subjects this coming examination season (November 2010).

The question I want to ask is can you still apply through UCAS this 2010/2011 although your grades are currently not up to scratch and will be resitting in November - will universities still look at your application OR
do you wait till you receive your results in January and then apply 2011/2012 season?
