How difficult is a Maths Enhancement Course?

So I'm guaranteed a place on a MEC since I have offer for PGCE Maths.

Is the MEC hard? Anyone done it and wanna share experience? Thx

Are you doing a year or 6 month course?

I recently finished the 6 month Maths SKE at Hull University, and will be starting PGCE in September.

Speaking to friends who did the year long course, I definately think the year long course was harder than the 6 month - the amount of information you are expected to learn within a year period is quite amazing. I found the 6 month course challenging but okay difficulty wise - it helped that I had an A-level in the subject as a lot of the material was just revisiting the A-level subjects and perhaps expanding on them further.

Do expect to do a fair amount of work outside the classroom, because although we were only in uni 2 full days and 2 half days, I did spend quite a few hours a week keeping ontop of the work, and coursework, and then revising for exams.
