I did a science olympiad in year eleven, we came joint first, I never thought about that, it's something for my UCAS next year if I have a few spare characters.

Some of the summers e.g. Uniq (Oxford) or Eton Summer school also do non science subjects, its worth checking them out. Also, my friends who applied to study economic found work experience in accounting firms, etc. Its best checking out local accounting firms. Furthermore, one of my friends did this workshop thing at Morgan Stanley, I'm sorry i cannot remember what it was called but maybe a bit of searching in their official website might help.

Re: Work Experience For Science Related Subjects
Could anyone suggest any good places for Physics work experience? I have to do a compulsory week of work experience in June and can't find many places to do it. What sort of companies offer placements related to Physics? My local uni (Bolton) doesn't have a Physics department so that isn't an option. Help is appreciated.

Do you even need work experience? I had none, none of my friends at university had any, yet we still all received offers ...

I did the Senior Physics Challenge (http://www-spc.phy.cam.ac.uk/). It was a very enjoyable and challenging week, which I'd recommend to all prospective physics students looking to stretch their physical and mathematical abilities.

I don't suppose you have anything like this for Maths? Like any journals to subscribe to or links to upcoming lectures etc?

Brilliant thread by the way, it's really nice of you to put in all that work to help others
