500 Days of Summer - loved it!
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Haven't seen it, but this review put me off:
"what an overrated crock of ****. It got really good reviews and has 8/10 on imdb, but it's just completely contrived, and all 'lookie here this film is so quirky and original and it's not your typical love story and we have two Smiths songs in the soundtrack' STFU."
But yeah, extremely overrated. And that 'Autumn' thing at the end followed by the look at the camera was what did it for me. Mediocre film at best.
Even though Zooey Deschanel is

Re: 500 Days of Summer - loved it!I kinda agree with that, I got bored of it. What's worse you feel bad if you dont like it as though you dont 'get' the films quirkiness or whatever.(Original post by Ivan91)

Re: 500 Days of Summer - loved it!
I saw it on a Thomas Cook flight to Turkey and didn't pay for headphones, watching it with no sound it looked like it was trying to be too arty and quirky with a non linear storyline and a couple that were too good looking and sassy to be believable in real life. But when I watched the film properly I really liked it; instead of trying to push an idealised version of romance it revealed that people are impulsive and you can't put your finger on what makes couples tick or what makes them go their separate ways, and I just think it was quite cleverly done and one of the more interesting romantic comedies out there if it must be called one, because it was more emotional than funny.

mostly because I love Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but the film is quite overrated tbh.
