Why do you think that 'street culture' is more prevalent among the British black community?
What do you mean by street culture?

No it is not and there is no such thing as black culture. I as someone with caribbean heritage do not have the same culture as my friend from africa or south america. That view is narrow minded.

OP Its more prevelant among black people because I guess (although I hate to admit it) that we started it but its not black culture. Not all black people indulge in it and I see plenty of white, and asian people act the same way. I find it weird that whilst some black people are abandoning it now, other races seem to be falling into it.
When I say "black culture" I am referring to any culture that was created by black people. "Street culture" would fall into this catergory.

Also what is so bad about "street" culture. People are a product of their environment.

    purrlease that rarely happens.
Your more likely to get some white hooligan getting upset because their football team lost and beating up the nearest person to them. Or maybe some nutter like derrick bird killing loads of people.
those blighters kill white people too you know.
That's because there's more white people in this country. As a proportion of the population you get more negros stabbing people than whites.

Errr..Yes there is such ting as black culture, and you do have the same heritage as some one from Africa or vice-versa. It just depends on how many centuries you want to go back.

I don't understand any negative connotation with "street culture".

If it's what I'm thinking of it definitely stemmed from the black community in the U.S living in urban areas. Street culture for me is hip hop, sneakers, fashion, graffiti art.

What you guys are thinking is probably drive-bys, drug dealing hoes and gangsters.

    P.S I'm a big fan of dilla.

I see what you are saying, maybe if you said black youth i would have got you. But saying street culture is black culture as a whole is demeaning to black people as a whole.

Dude me and you do not have the same culture. We may have aspect in common but we do not have the same culture (me being from the caribbean and south america). That's a fact.
An American person and a English person do not have the same culture even though they are alike in many ways.
We share some heritage way down the line but to say that we have the same heritage is silly. There are aspects of my heritage that most nigerians can't relate to. Slavery for example. Whilst we came from African initially and have some of that inbuilt into us, the 300 years of slavery has give caribbean people a culture and heritage different to most africans.
Well I guess your right if you want to be specific. African and Caribbean culture are quit similar so I always just call its black culture.
