Give Michael Bull a slap on the wrist for not turning up to his digital media seminar last term and later pretending he had infact taught it. Apparently he's a good bloke though ... specialises in Ipod research at the moment.

Well he's well known for researching the effects of and on portable music - I wouldn't be able to give too many details here, he's the professor not me! - and Ipods being the phenomenon they are I suppose it makes sense to focus on them at the moment. I'm not sure if i've completely answered your question here, or at all actually.

Do you mean how can you specialise in something so specific? If so, I think that part of the reason why he's a leading figure in the field is because it is quite narrow, although a lot of questions are raised in his research that extend well beyond what i expected, particularly into sociology. I also get the impression that as a 'leading expert' on Ipods and their use, his status is beneficial to the university and so he is in turn encouraged to research the area more. Stabbing in the dark here though!

I can't vouch for his creativeness ... but I can vouch for the credibility of what someone said earlier - chances are you'll probably hardly ever see your tutor!

don't we have like tutorial things that oblige us to go see him once in a while?

I think she meant players made by the rival brand "Creative", not personaly traits... :p:

Yep got that! Slightly too dry in my response

There are tutor meetings yeah, but after the first one, not many people that I know turned up again. Tutors didn't seem to mind, it only requires an email once a year saying something along the lines of "no i'm not suicidal, I do know when the exams are and yes my attendance is super". Definately worth going to the first one though, it was useful to know who my tutor was, how I could contact her (as I did need to once in the second year) etc.
I remember at 6th-form college I had an "enrolment tutor" on the first day...
Just went through my GCSEs, discussed my A-level choices, filled in some forms.

Never saw him again.

I'm a little miffed that they've discontinued the 20 and 40 GB iRivers.

I think I'll get the 5GB one if I get the cash together. iRivers are good stuff.

Indeed, but, www.apple.com/ipodnano.

What, even the newer 320 /340 version? That's a bit random.

If so, I fear it's all about iPod pressure... bleh.

The market isn't very kind, even if you are making excellent stuff, unfortunately :frown:

What's the point in a 2gb mp3 player? You can get memory cards that big.
