    is it really worth it because the the only things i can see me ever using it for is the cinema? i haven't started uni yet at i'm still in 6th form. do you use it? what do you use it for and is it worth it?
    if you pay an extra £1 you can get international student identity with it (e.g nus AND isic for £11). it's useful to have if you want student discounts abroad.

    No, it's a complete joke.

    1. In most city universities you can pick up enough great vouchers in fresher's week to last a year or more (many don't even have an expiry date!)
    2. Almost every shop that does have a student discount will accept an ISIC card instead or just your normal student ID, because they're staffed by bloody students!

    I dont think is necessary if you are heading to UNI. Most places will give you discount with a valid student ID from ur university Unless you are going to travel heavily with megabus, since you get 10% discount for each ride with nus

    You can get discounts / free burger in Mc D's with a NUS card, when i was in college they wouldnt accept out student ID .

    Mc D's and Cinema Discounts for only £10 a year seemse worth it

    I used it so much it was unbelievable;

    -As a rule, went into every shop and asked for student discount; some do, some don't, might have saved myself £40-£50 or something.
    -Having a student card saved me about £300-£400 at STA travel booking all my flights and tours for travelling last year.
    -Local clubs both have student nights, people with student cards get in for free, saved about £80-£100.
    -Cinema discount, probably saved about £20-£30.
    -Knocks £1 off every driving lesson, so a nice £20 saving there.

    Epic purchase.

    i think from the general saying it seems not worth it to me. odeon cinema does teenage getting in or orange wenesdays so nus pointless for that. vouchers on freshers sounds great so not for that. and i dont travel much so pointless for that. cheers for the info guys and worst comes to the worst ill get one when at uni. TSR wins again.

    It is worth it just in case places that have student discounts don't accept any other forms of student ID.

    while i was at 6th form, it was really useful, got money off at la senza, matalan, topshop, the cinema and loads of other places, whenver i was going to buy something i asked if they accepted the NUS card and loads did - i know i have saved money by having one - but im going to uni in september and i will probably not bother getting one if i can use the id i get from the uni for free
