Re: The Legal and Commercial Awareness Discussion Thread !!"the City" book definitely(Original post by stefwad75)
Quick question, as a non-law undergraduate and aspiring lawyer with little knowledge of the business world, would 'All you need to know about Commercial Awareness' be the best first read for me or 'All you need to know about the City'? -
Re: The Legal and Commercial Awareness Discussion Thread !!
as ongoing reading, Alphaville http://ftalphaville.ft.com/ and Paul Krugman http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/ are funny, accessible and in-depth. following alphaville's livechat each morning will get you very clued in very quickly
Planet Money http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/ (blog and podcast) veers between really insightful and a bit basic -

Re: The Legal and Commercial Awareness Discussion Thread !!
Hi,
I am currently working in-house as a Commercial Manager for a CMC and on a very high salary but I just started very recently.I draft legal contracts and deal with all the compliance issues. This gives me quite a good understanding of commercial awareness.
Would this lead me to a training contract or would look attractive on my C.V. I have about over 2 years Paralegal experience in the city. I heard working for a CMC is career suicide!!!
All your comments are welcomed as well as constructive advice.
Thanks!
