Approach your sixth form/college, check with them that you'd be able to do this.

Then it's a case of deciding what you'd like to do with your gap year, working on making that happen, and putting together another UCAS.

First thing to do is to talk to your current school/college and see if they will allow you to resit through them. Schools in particular are well used to people reapplying through them after they have left, so this shouldn't be a problem. Not so sure about colleges, but worth asking anyway.

    Just... not today?

    Sorry you've been disappointed

Yeah, didn't get my grades either. I wasn't planning on taking a gap year but I guess I will have to (I needed AAB including an A in History). I got BBBA, but I only got a B in history.

It could be worse I guess. Still, a bit of a disappointment having to go a year later then planned. I guess I'll have to find a job...

dude im in the same boat as u. was wondering could u gimme advice?

hi i just wanted ask u a question. well my situation is that in A2 i got these results : Accounts (A) Economics (B) Business (B) Maths (B). I had straight As in my busines modules but my teacher being a cock of the highest order gave us the wrong curriculum for the paper with most people totally flopping. I luckily got a C in the june exam cuz of my econonomics but i definitely wanna boost it to an A. and do 1 resit in Economics along the way. I will be doing this while im studying economics and maths at keele but i plan to apply for a transfer or starting again for economics and finance at manchester. i was wondering would it be better to resit? would it be better to apply with ABB and explain my circumstances? or resit my exams anyway but apply with a ABB?? By the way i got AAAC in business for uni1,2,3,4 respectively and CBAA for unit 1,2,3,4 respectively for economics. i dodged my economic cuz when i got my first year scripts out even i couldnt read my handwriting never mind the examiner lol so i wrote less and even tho i missed a 12 mark question in unit 4 i still pulled off a decent A. dunno if this helps. i plan to resit unit 4 in business and unit 1 in economics while im at uni so i can apply for manchester cheers cheers

    Have you considered clearing?

If not, what grades do you need for Manchester? Rather then resitting the whole year I would suggest you just resit one or two of those subjects that you think you can get higher. No point resitting a whole year where you have got pretty good grades anyway.

there is literally nothing left in clearing at all. and im only resittin 2 modules overall not the whole year so il be doing that while im at keele. manchester's typical offer is AAB. i only need 1 more A :/

Sorry to hear that mate. Well, look on the bright side. It could be a hell of a lot worse. You could have to resit a whole year, and at least you get to spend a year longer with your mates. I can understand its a right pain in the arse if you were all set on going this September.

Also, I'd advise you do something productive in your gap year. Will sound better on your personal statement, plus you don't want to feel you wasted a year.

I have got an offer from Queen Mary's through clearing. At first I was pretty scared of the prospect of going to london, but now its grown on me. Only now another spanner has been thrown in the works. They don't have enough accomodation for all the first years and i don't want to end up in private residence on my own in a massive new city. Looks like I will have to put it off a year afterall.

Not sure yet. Probably Newcastle and Leeds again, along with Bristol, Sussex and a London Uni (Probably Queen Mary's). What about you?

I'm resitting History to try and get it to an A. i don't think I could handle resitting anything else.

If I fail again next September I am going for the army.

I think Oxford and Cambridge aren't too keen on resitters. Most other unis don't care as far as I am aware.

I think UCL are upping the game next year and asking for AAA. I don't think it makes too much of a difference, I asked King's over the phone and they didn't care.
