Re: pharmacy interview Q'sI've PMed you(Original post by petzneo)
Ok, send the document to me and then I will have a look, fix it up if needed and then pop it up on the pharmacy guide. If its ok with you and everyone else, I'll have it done on Sunday or possibly Saturday
Thank you so much for offering to help out, I know that people will really appreciate it! Are you at university now?
No prob, I'm not at uni yet. Applied for 2011 entry and have offers from Manchester, Notts and Aston so far. -
Re: pharmacy interview Q'sHey, do you think you can send it again as my inbox was full!(Original post by Consilio Et Animis)

Re: pharmacy interview Q's
Hi there
As a prospective pharmacy student I'm finding this all pretty daunting...
Could you please PM me the answers ?
Also do they tell what theyre going to ask before the interview ? Because receiving all that on the day would be nearly impossible to answer just from AS/A2 knowledge.
Thanks
-
Re: pharmacy interview Q'sDon't be too worried about this, they won't ask you all the questions posted here(Original post by K.H)

The interview depends on the Uni, but for me they sent me a letter saying either that they would/wouldn't ask me about biology (as it is one of my subjects), chemistry and some pharmacy based questions.
I would also recommend doing a little research on pharmacy in general (so community, hospital, industry, drug delivery systems etc), but don't worry about that until you get interviews. Also remember that many unis don't interview at all.
Good luck, and hope this helped

Re: pharmacy interview Q'sThanks alot ! I've done a fair amount of research into hospital and industrial pharmacy because thats what i want to go into, I'll probably read more during the summer holidays and the application process.(Original post by Ilovecake)

What unis did you apply to/get offers from if I may ask
?
And also I would greatly appreciate if anybody had the answers to these, would be really helpful not just for the interview but the actual course itself.
Thanks ! -
Re: pharmacy interview Q'sI applied to Bath, Cardiff, Aston, Nottingham and Reading, got offers from them all except Nottingham (I withdrew my application). Bath is my firm, Reading is my insurance.(Original post by K.H)

I'm afraid I don't actually have the answers, I just researched the questions a bit before my interviews. Good luck

any particular reason why you withdrew the application from nottingham ? What grades/subjects did you get at AS/A2 ?
I live 20mins from Reading, an hour and 15mins from Bath and an hour from KCL and london school of pharmacy so ive got a good location
( Berkshire )
I'm going to apply to aston, reading, KCL, bath and UEA/nottingham. I've only just finished AS, expecting AAAB/AAAA from biology, chemistry, physics and maths respectively. My teachers have told me theyre expecting me to get AAA/AAB at A2. ( Dropping physics )
If I can sort out some work experience ( finding it a bit tricky atm, the big usual companies dont want underaged people in their retail outlets ) I hope i'll be fine. Gonna face the £9000 though :/ -

Not really, just realised I didn't want to go there even if I got an offer, and couldn't really be bothered to go there for the interview. Also I completely fell in love with bath, and really liked reading, so my choices were already sorted
At AS I got AAAA in bio, chem, french and history. In the January exams I got AA in bio and chem, and an A in history coursework (bear in mind most of these, except chemistry, are just As). I'm hoping for A*AA (my predicted grades), expecting AAB or lower since I'm really not sure how bio or history went
I found the best way to get work experience was to just keep phoning them up
eventually someone nice picks up and gives you work experience (I did 2 weeks in a local Boots) Also, maybe write down some things you learn about Pharmacy while you're there, it really helps for the interviews.
Poor you lot for £9000, its really unfair
never mind, you will be a rich Pharmacist who can pay it all off in a year. Maybe....
-
Re: pharmacy interview Q'sGood luck and dw, AAB is totally respectable and its the requirement for Bath anyway isnt it ? I was so glad to finish all the non science subjects at GCSE...(Original post by Ilovecake)
Thanks

Can't imagine doing a further 2 years of english, just no way.
I've got all the open days coming up soon, will make my mind up by then, but kings college is really appealing cos of the reputation, history and location.
And yeh, hopefully by the time i'm a consultant i'll be rolling in the dough
I've got a feeling that something bad is going to happen to the education system in the next 2-3 years. Like a huge collapse in quality, student numbers etc..
Luckily for some degrees especially pharmacy, its a worthwile investment with a great return. -

Re: pharmacy interview Q's
From the earlier posts i saw you posted someone else the answers, just resending that particular email is plentiful, I'm not even in the application process yet so I'm not too concerned just yet
I'd just to like have a start into looking at the questions and topics i need to research, any help, any answers to questions which you feel are the most relevant are most welcome.

Yeah, I would be happy with AAB, but my history teacher would be really disappointed since he genuinely thought I could get an A*
Kings does sound lovely, I was scared of it though because its in London
Well hopefully that won't happen, but it may well do, especially for degrees that don't lead to jobs (unlike Pharmacy, which is clearly the best
) My friends who decided to take a gap year are also kicking themselves now!

Re: pharmacy interview Q'sOh that actually never worked out cuz I didn't know how to attach the doc(Original post by K.H)

I will try and PM you some of the stuff via copy pasting ergh hassle but most of it is comprised of links to relevant sites. I don't just go round PMing it to everyone because they should do some of their own research too
-

I just want to get some background knowledge since none of this is to do with the academics we have at school, it's all pharmacy specific.

Re: pharmacy interview Q'sLondon makes me buzz haha, i'm stuck in the poshest place in the country - its not a bad place in any way, its just that most of the people are so similar ( Upper class, spoilt etc ) London is a nice mix up of all types of backgrounds and characters.(Original post by Ilovecake)

At the end of the day though, theyre your grades and you're doing it for yourself, if hes disappointed but you're happy then tough
And pharmacy rocks, basically for me its everything medicine offers without any of the drawbacks ( Working 12-16hr shifts, 5+2+4 YEARS before reaching just GP level.., having to diagnose all kinds of ehm unpleasant stuff ...
)

Haha yes
although we will still have to deal with the people with the "unpleasant stuff" ...
