Re: Americans applying to university in the UKWow, first of all congrats on those scores! They're pretty much amazing. With that, you could likely get an offer from Oxbridge and surely get an offer from most other unis you could apply to.(Original post by Yafoubnx)
What kind of stats does one need to get into top schools in the UK as an American. I'm applying for history and I've got 4 5s as well as a 2200 and 32. Is that enough or am I short some exams?
Where are you thinking of applying? -
Re: Americans applying to university in the UKI already applied to Oxford, UCL, KCL, LSE (won't get in, I didn't bother to check the reqs. I needed to fill the last spot) and Edinburgh. I'm waiting on my Oxford decision right now.(Original post by EcstaticMuse)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UKWas going to say in everywhere with the exception of: Oxford-dependent on interview. LSE-dependent on subject choices and PS. What course are you going for?(Original post by Yafoubnx)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UK
I'm applying for History. I have no idea how my Oxford interview went. I'm almost certain I did well on the HAT though.
My four APs go as such by the way
US History
European History
World History
Comparative Government.
I also have a 780 on the US history and an 800 world history SAT IIs but I did not declare them on UCAS. I hadn't signed up for the tests at that point.Last edited by Yafoubnx; 19-12-2010 at 22:10. -
Re: Americans applying to university in the UKSo you're just worried you missed the 5th required AP for LSE? Or is there a specific AP you are missing?(Original post by Yafoubnx)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UKI'm not quite worried at all for LSE. I'm certain I missed the 5th one. I don't really want to go there anyway. I'm more worried for UCL, KCL, and Edinburgh. I know Oxford has already been decided and it's on its way to me.(Original post by adam0311)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UKNo reason to worry then. Definitely in at Edinburgh, 99% in at KCL, 98.9% in at UCL.(Original post by Yafoubnx)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UKI can understand that.(Original post by EcstaticMuse)
I'd heard that this year and the last were a rare occurrence with the snow. The getting stuck part isn't really my worry, more that of my parents. I've got a friend with cousins in London who have been trying to get to Atlanta for days now but their flight keeps getting delayed and I guess they think that'll happen to me!
And I'll be PMing you shortly!
Look forward to hearing from you. -
Re: Americans applying to university in the UKThank you. You have no idea how happy this makes me.(Original post by adam0311)

Re: Americans applying to university in the UKIt varies; normally it's something between 2 to 8 weeks. Depends how competitive the uni is etc. Plus most people will have sent their applications off by now so the admissions tutors will have a lot to wade through(Original post by LLG11)
How long does it usually take for universities to respond about an offer? I guess I'll be waiting longer since I sent my applications two days ago and Christmas is soon. -
Re: Americans applying to university in the UKCongrats!(Original post by Yafoubnx)
