Welcome to the Accommodation Classifieds Forum. This forum is a new initiative for students to advertise rooms they have available, or look for flatmates. Before posting, you are asked to familiarise yourself with the necessary guidelines and conditions outlined below.

General
  • This service is not to be used by landlords and agents nor anyone other than a bone fide student and we encourage students to report any landlord or agent who has used this system to make contact.
  • Use of the forum is at your own risk. Threads created in here are simply the means of advertising accommodation - all transactions take place off TSR and disputes must be overcome only by those involved. Neither the moderators nor Acumen PI will intervene in general if such a case arises; however, if you suspect an advertisement to be a scam or otherwise inappropriate for TSR, please bring it to attention via the post reporting system or Ask A Moderator.
  • All new threads are pre-moderated. This means that they will go into the moderation queue when they are first posted and will need to be looked at and approved by a moderator before they appear on the site. Please be patient when posting - it could take several hours for messages to be processed. If your message is unsuitable then it will not be allowed into the forum. If your message has not appeared and you are not sure why, please don't repost it but post in Ask A Moderator where a moderator will be able to advise you.


Guidance for Use of This ForumGeneral
  • Post an informative title to inform people of the basic details of the accommodation (location and cost).
  • Check your thread regularly to respond to any general queries and reply as soon as possible when a user PMs you about the accommodation.
  • Post in the thread if the accommodation is no longer available, you've found a flatmate or the accommodation is no longer required.
  • For your own safety, we strongly suggest that you do not post personal contact details in the thread - please use the PM system for exchanging these details.
  • Do not post a link to an accommodation advert on any external website such as gumtree or any other similar site.
  • Only one thread per user – even if you are looking for multiple housemates, please stick to one thread. Multiple threads will be removed and may incur warning points, as might attempts to advertise using duplicate accounts.


If you are advertising accommodation that is available
Please include these details in your post:
  • Location (e.g. distance to uni, proximity to shops/city centre/bus stops as appropriate)
  • Type of property: House/flat/double/single
  • Availability: When will it be available, how long is the contract
  • Cost per week/month: whether this is inclusive/exclusive of bills and if it doesn't include bills, roughly how much these are
  • Details of the accommodation: e.g. number of people in the house/flat and who they are, bathrooms, reception rooms, furnishings, garden, parking etc
  • Pictures (if available)


If you are advertising for accommodation that is wanted
Please include these details in your post:
  • Location
  • Type of property wanted: house/flat/double/single/furnished/unfurnished etc
  • When is it needed?
  • Price range you are willing to pay (inclusive/exclusive of bills)
  • Any particular things that are important for you (e.g. non-smokers, parking required etc)


Staying SafeStaying Safe While Using This Forum
  • If you decide to view a property, take a friend or make sure you tell a third party where and when you're meeting, and when you expect to be home.
  • If you are advertising a property, do not include the exact address in the post or anywhere on the public forum.
  • Remember that people may not be who they seem to be.
  • It is each member's responsibility to determine the character and acceptability of any prospective roommate, tenant or landlord.
