Domani ultimo giorno. Lascio la stanza e poi martedi' torno in patria! Sole, mare (con settimana enigmistica), cibo buono, amici e parenti (da cui scroccare), guidare l'auto, leggere letteratura e non trattati e tomi. Insomma vivere (e non sopravvivere) per tre mesi pieni! Non vedo l'ora.

A due giorni dall'esame orale l'ansia ormai si fa sentire moltissimo! Il mio futuro dipende da questo colloquio! Ma prima di ritornare sui libri mi piacerebbe sapere cosa farete anche voi connazionali a Settembre!

Siamo nella stessa situazione! Io ho bisogno di 95 per rendere effettiva la mia offerta (un dual degree tra European Social and Political Studies, specializzazione in Economia, presso l'UCL, e Sciences Po di Parigi)... Se tutto va bene dopo due anni a Parigi, a partire da settembre, potrò trasferirmi a Londra. In bocca al lupo!

It's me again. People outside of Italy say that Italian people are so patriotic that they sing their national anthem with an impressive passion. Is that true? what I dislike as a foreigner is this sentence in there: "Siam pronti alla morte". Translated in English it reads as follows: "We are ready to die". Why so many Italians are so enthusiastic in this text passage? Are they really ready to die for Italy? I don't think so.

This is just a way to say that we'd do anything for our country. But not so many people are ready to die for Italy ... it's just a way of saying. Many anthems have sentences like this. The French one is basically a war song, not half of it actually makes sense nowadays, but it just means that we care a lot about our country.

Qui abbiamo il ballo di fine anno il 5 luglio, non dormiamo affatto, e il mattino del 6 luglio andiamo tutti a vedere i risultati ... che ansiaaa !

Devo dire che avete tutti offerte stupende ! io ad agosto vado in Cina per un anno, però rifaccio domanda in Inghilterra

It's just a say to demonstrate a sense of loyalty which we'd have until death (theoretically) in order to defend our nation. In reality, it's not so. Personally, I would never give away my life for my nation. More, what is my nation (or any other nation)? An abstract concept which actually consists of a few people (politicians, bankers, white-collars etc etc...) who detain the power in their hands. No way I give away my life to protect their interests, participating the wars they decide, maintaining public order (read as "suppress riots with batons") for them and similar things. I don't see any valid reason to die for someone or something, except for protecting my immediate family and my future children if I'll have some.

About our patriotism, most of times it is linked with our sense of competition. Italians are very competitive people, so a sport competition is a good opportunity to demonstrate this. Actually, most of Italians forget their sense of patriotism every time they don't issue the receipt to evade taxes or violate other civic duties.

I live in Italy. Anyway, I wouldn't define it as a lifestyle. It is more about bad habits that people have accepted for too much time and now we are paying for this widespread intolerance for the rules. Civic re-education will be a very hard and demanding task, but I hope Italian people will be able to build a new and fairer model of society so that they can obtain the respect they deserve.

Perchè ne vuoi fare così tanti?
Se intendi venire a fare l'università nel Regno Unito, ti basterà solo l'IELTS (Academic mi raccomando), non c'è bisogno che ne faccia così tanti di esami, se devi fare l'università in Italia è un altro discorso :-)
L'importante è che quando fai la domanda di ammissione non siano passati più di due anni dalla data in cui hai sostenuto l'esame :-).
Potrebbe anche solo bastarti il First (devi controllare sul sito di ogni corso a cui fai domanda, perchè i requisiti cambaino spesso da uni ad uni anche se per poco), l'unica cosa importante è la regola dei 2 anni :-).
Il tutor che valuterà la tua candidatura non sarà tentato a darti un posto se vede che hai sostenuto e passato più esami di inglese, è diciamo tipo un'idonietà se va bene quello più lettera di presentazione (quest'ultima li deve colpire in qualche modo), referenza e carriera accademica allora ti sarà offerto un posto :-)
Se per un motivo x, non dovesse ritenere adeguata la tua preparazione sarà lui stesso a dirti nella condizione quale esame fare e con che voto (questo di solito succede quando non hai i requisiti di conoscenza della lingua che si trovano sul sito del corso).
