You're uncomfortable with it because your culture has socially conditioned to you be uncomfortable with it.

In contrast, the Japanese culture has not. Subsequently they see nothing wrong with it and make no association to the seedy paedo characteristics you mention.

Ultimately, it is a culture clash in which neither side is at any kind of moral superiority to tell the other that they are wrong.

That may be true, but then it could also be that girls that age are just considered beautiful and desirable in Japanese culture. Maybe they feel they are ready. It seems somewhat naive to think they are just not making the connection, it could be the connection is made but tolerated as normal.

Like I said at the start of the thread, they actually don't. At least the majority of the high school and university-aged public can't stand her because she's an "otaku/weeaboo" (basically, obsessed with anime/manga) :/

Ahh, I saw her BBC3 documentary. Yeah, I get what you mean it does seem a bit peado. But from what I saw on the doc she has a hell of a lot of young fans too, and if she's happy doing and her parents then I don't see a problem.

They moan at the majority of Japanese who are completely obsessed with it as well, so it's not all racism towards "foreigners". Some people regard it as the most shameful part of the culture but I think that's a minority tbh.

The statistics on the show prove that! The only people watching their vids are usually men 40+...

This girl's parents are so so naive; they have no idea what they have allowed their child to be sold into. I can garantee that her photobooks and stuff are being sold in Japanese sex shops! Her parents are none the wiser! I've been in Japanese sex shops before, and they are so harshly differen to the west! Shocking in some cases!

Her parents would really change their minds if they realised that her 'manager' is actually sailing her up **** creek!

Also, yeah, she has absolutely NO talent! And her Japanese pronounciation is abysmal!! :eek:

I found the show was making too much of na light of her, she's over rated, now I ain't sure of Japanese culture and that, but she's just taletless tbh, I say that because I'm not into that sort of thing, I like Anime but only drawing it tho'.

They are making an light of '40 year old men watching it' they think they like watching innocently? You still get paedos in all countries, I ain't saying it because I'm brought up with those views because I am British, but have you seen Manga as it's porno rate? It's not that 'young, cute, and innocent' as it seems.
