looking at the modules covered in doing a sociology/politics degree, why does economics come up frequently?

i'm really not into maths and statistics at all, so is this quite an important factor?

Well studying A2 politics, economics is a an important part of politics, however you don't need to be brillant at maths, i think its about political understanding about different econmic stratergies
