    Woah, so much good information

This sounds good. This sort of training would be awesome for when I get home and play for a local village team (not great standard at all, but such a laugh). I think I'm going to go along to the AU fayre with an open mind and I'll probably come out as a member of a male netball team or something!

How rigorous is the fitness for cricket? Because I imagine at uni, unless I do some properly good fitness, I'll end up being a fat blob (with all the inevitable booze and fast food), so it would be awesome if it was quite rigorous, or you know, I could get some will power and do it myself!
Its not hugely vigorous in the off season, at the start they do fitness on a monday - which is something like indoor football / touch rugby / some short sprints etc with some catching drills. Then Friday is nets if I remember rightly, until after Christmas when theres some outside practises.
It may well be different next year - the days might change etc. I know when it gets to the start of the season they like to do a morning training too - most are usually in the evenings 5/6/7pm kinda time. The morning training is a running / fitness thing, but again it might change as the First Team Captain runs training sessions and decides what to do in each session. Like I said, there will be friendlies too to get your eye in!
Not to scare you... but the average student in the UK puts on a stone in their first year - I know I did but you lose it jsut as easily if you want to! The problem isnt the food, its more the alcohol levels that are on the increase!! I'm a cider lover and thats the worst for it!! I warn you... the cricket club absolutely LOVE a drink or two...

To be fair, I've been drinking a lot over the summer, had some heavy student type weeks, getting on it 5 days out of the 7, and I've started to get plumper. I'm not that bothered about putting on weight and whatever, I'm not overly bodily conscious, but a few years ago, when I started secondary school, I was one fat git, but I had a growth spurt and lost the chub. Now, standing at 5'3 (yeah, I know :p: ) and around 9st7, I'm not overly heavy, just starting to form a beer belly. I'll probably try to keep the fat off, but I know I'll probably be too lazy to do it :hahaha:

Thanks for the info man, really has helped
