Irish Republican Army.
The Real IRA are the brothers to the Provincial IRA but the Really Real IRA don't like the Real IRA and think they are the proper IRA. The Real IRA from the 1920s is now the Irish Defence Force and views all the above IRAs as terrorist organisations. They are all scum who like planting bombs and killing innocent people because they are unable to just go south and live in a 'free' Ireland.

Embarrasingly, I have no idea.

What's the IRA stand for and do? Google helped not a bit. :frown:

One-nation Tory = Moderate more left wing section of the Tory party who are opposed to the extremes of Thatcherism.

IRA - Irish Republican Army, responsible for the Brighton and Manchester bombings in the 90s, trying to fight for catholic rights in northern ireland but was a terror organisation.

This. The real IRA aren't the REAL IRA.
Wikipedia is your friend.

And there are several different wings of the IRA. I can see a lot of arguments happening in this thread...

Yeah I was just taking the pish out of their pretty immature naming styles :p: .

Interestingly a new one popped up with a celtic name recently, maybe it is being run by MI5 in a sting type operation? Would be a decent way of capturing all the sons of the terrorists.

A 'one-nation tory' is a conservative who believes in unity towards the citizenship of the nation living in harmoney as opposed to social polarisation. In simple terms the belief that everyone who lives in a nation no matter what their religion, colour, etc should be united under the nation they live in.

IRA stands for Irish Republican Army. The real IRA think they are the real IRA but they are not the real IRA. The IRA are the real IRA which means that those who go by the name of the real IRA only pretend to be the real IRA. So who are the IRA?? The real IRA are the IRA who are in actual fact our government  :p:

Why are people going the Real IRA is the IRA, when it is not, as saying something so general about the entire Republican paramilitaries who were active throughout the Troubles, and even as far back as the Civil War and War of Independence, is misleading.

The Real IRA is a splinter group which formed in around 1997, which broke off from the Provisional IRA in a spilt in the Army Council over the peace process and whether the Provos should decommission their arms.

Well, without being too pedantic the Brighton bombing was in the 1980s (they were targeting Thatcher) and they, or splinter groups, have been responsible for a fair few terrorist incidents in the decades before that.

They have my video up and somehow know my real name!!!! :O :woo:
One nation conservatives are basically people who would have supported Labour if they had been born into a poor family - they have absolutely no ideological belief in conservatism, they're just Conservatives instead because they're rich.

In terms of policy they are actually to the "left" of the conservative party, but its no coincidence that Thatcherites are more likely to be from humble backgrounds. The only reason for being a tory if you're poor is a strong belief in the ideology!
This one time, the police thought my mum was in the IRA

One-nation conservatism is a doctrine propagated originally by Disraeli. It sugests that the upper classes assist the lower classes because the two classes are interdependant. It suggests that charity is used to create a 'trickle-down' social justice system.
One-nation Tories are different from the free-market liberal Tories. The One-nation Tories are generally favourable towards the welfare state, nationalisation of the key industries and so on. They take a paternalistic view to society - ie rich or poor are still part of Britain, rich and poor had to come together to win the war, we shouldn't be a socially divided nation. They don't look for massive wealth redistribution but see the richer part of society as having a moral obligation to provide (through tax) a welfare system for the less well off.

Free market liberal Tories are much less well disposed towards the welfare system and favour lower taxes, less interference from government, and are less concerned with social inequality and tension between the classes.

You generally find within the Tory party and its membership, that the older generation, and those born into money, are more likely to be One Nation Tories, The younger generation and those with the story of being self made business people are more likely to be free market Tories.

And what's the difference between Free Market and Fiscal Conservatism? :erm:

Easy to spot as they wear gumboots and talk like farmers :p:
(ITYM Provisional.)

On a more serious note:

On August 13th 2010 the Northern Ireland Office’s home-protection unit offered to provide prominent political and legal figures with mirrors designed to check for bombs under vehicles. On August 14th three young girls narrowly escaped serious injury in Lurgan, County Armagh, when a bomb intended for the police exploded in a nearby rubbish bin. Four days earlier a booby-trap bomb went off under the car of a former policeman in Cookstown, County Tyrone. On August 8th another bomb was planted in Kilkeel, County Down, which almost cost the lives of a Catholic policewoman and her daughter. The officer had just strapped the child into her car when she spotted the booby trap and managed to scramble her daughter to safety. On August 4th a booby-trap bomb was found under a soldier’s car in Bangor. The day before, a vehicle containing 200 pounds of home-made explosives blew up outside a police station in Londonderry. And that was only August.
