Well, up until recently I have been in the negative, not because I've done anything wrong, simply because I like to engage in debates and apparently I have many controversial and unpopular views. I don't think its reasonable to restrict those with neg rep, without specifying what neg rep can be given for and an appeal feature to challenge wrongfully given neg rep.

Neg Rep should only mean something if it is given out by mods. Currently, it's given out by idiots who disagree with your opinion, even if the opinion was well thought out and respectful. It penalises those of us on TSR who are controversial - in other words those of us who make this place interesting. Those of us with neg rep should be rewarded, infact, with moneyz.

The reputation I give out neither officially endorses or condemns anyone. I am a member first and a moderator second, and my reputation is given out based on my own opinions. To remove this would be a very bad idea.

Herro very long time indeed. I see that some of the moderators are still power hungry and like to dish out warnings for petty things still grrrr. Was hoping that might have all changed.

And contrary to the popular belief, most posters with so-called "negative reputation" actually create the most entertaining posts. Far more so than those with high pos rep

I think that a solution is that there should only be positive rep, and that individual posts can receive a "thumbs up/down" like on YouTube. The rubbish posts are somehow removed or hidden?
But in my opinion we don't really need a solution I don't mind the rep. If you annoy people you get negged, the other day I annoyed someone and I received positive rep. That was quite cool.

I agree that this solution would be best. I feel that by eliminating negative reputation, those with a large amount of reputation can't destroy someone else's. To some people it matters how much reputation they have and it doesn't seem fair that if they disagree they should receive a massive amount of negative reputation.

However, the best thing we can do is try not to forcefully change TSR. TSR should change as it needs to and not because people want to. You'll find that as we take in suggestions from the likes of Facebook, YouTube and other forums and social networking platforms - that we become more like them.

TSR is distinct in its own way and I feel that is why people come here. Some suggestions, although with good intent, may change TSR into something it isn't. By doing this, TSR will evolve into something we find difficult to associate ourselves with.
