Moving into uni - Things you forgot/didn't know?

Hi i'm moving into uni in a couple of weeks and I think I have everything for there. But I was wondering if theres some things that you forgot or didn't know before moving in?

For example, not bringing cleaning equipment, little things like tweezers, not knowing that food is dearer than expected, air freshener is necessary for bathrooms (lol)

Any more things you didn't know or forgot to bring?

I want to be as prepared as possible lol

You're more likely to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

If you get there and realise you need something, then buy it. But the far more likely case is that you will take a ton of stuff with you that you will never use.
Erm. Well. I don't know what you already have.
I turned up on the first day with one plate; one knife, fork and spoon; one cup; one saucepan. Huuuge mistake. Everyone else had so much cooking equipment. When I went to cook my pizza I had nothing to cook it on! And had no sharp knife to cut a potato with!
So make sure you bring enough cooking stuff and more than one plate etcc.

Its not a big deal if you forget something. If you get there and realise you didn't bring any nail clippers then go out and buy some. If you go to wash up your dishes and realise you didn't bring any sponges then go buy some. The place you're moving to will also have shops.
Duster.

Bring a duster.

My pristine white bathroom ended up looking considerably greyer at the end of each term last year.

But you can buy most things on the cheap if you find you need them when you get to your destination.

Cooking oil. Got there, went to Sainsburys, bought sausages, eggs, bacon, bread. Couldn't fry my eggs. First morning hangover fry-up fail.
a fan, those rooms can get mighty stuffy especially in halls

I didn't pack an ethernet cable. Pretty easy to acquire one though. Also I didn't take any seriously formal attire (suit, tie etc).
I thought I'd packed LOADS of clothes. Turns out, once I'd taken out everything that was part of a fancy dress outfit, there was hardly ANYTHING.
I actually had to buy a few hundred quids worth (well didn't HAVE to.. but you know.. got carried away).
Baking tray. Tea towels...chopping board...sharp knive...bottled water to keep for hydrating after messy nights out.

Subscribing just incase

My two cents = an egg cup.
Coat hangers was my thing. Didn't even occur to me that there wouldn't be any.
It was a good thing though - helped me socialise with my new flatmate who didn't have any pillows.

Yeah but tap water is not very nice as opposed to Evian or Fiji.
