University course discussion for engineering.

Engineering, Uni.
What universities are considered to be the best for Electrical and Mechanical engineering?
And what A levels would I need to be accepted into them.
The subjects I am studying (classic for a hopefull engineer)
Maths
FM Maths
Physics
Chemistry
What A level grades would I need to get into the best university for engineering?
Im not being over ambitious im just trying to be open minded about my options, and know the facts. -
Re: Engineering, Uni.Guardian also reckons the University of East London is fifth for civil engineering when it doesn't even offer an MEng Civil Engineering degree - the standard degree nowadays for prospective civil engineers to study.(Original post by BluesMan)
Yeah? Interesting. Guardian reckons top 3
but we all know the league tables lie!
League tables are overall worthless for engineering (and indeed most things). All accredited courses are, uh, accredited to fully meet the demands for the academic requirements for chartered status. UCL's MEng Mechanical Engineering degree is accredited just like all the rest, so anyone saying it's not a 'top' university for mechanical engineering is speaking crap, as it is proven to meet the highest standards as verified by the IMechE. -
Re: Engineering, Uni.hmm yeah thanks.(Original post by BluesMan)
Top ones include, but are not limited to:
Oxbridge
Imperial
UCL
Southampton
Strathclyde
Bristol
Bath
Do you want to do Elec and Mech or one of the two?
I would never fit in with all the posh people in there (if i ever do get accepted)
What grades would I need to have a firm chance of getting accepted (based on the subjects I listed in my original post
Furthur Maths maths physics chemistry)
I just want to know the facts then I might start getting hopeful or look for a more realistic target.
