Say you saw a chav in the street. Would you despise him/her on sight, and never want to hang about with him/her?

If your personality is more refined, and you think chavdom is a mental disorder, and something not attuned to your personality, would you think it's right to hate them on sight, based on an intuition of what they are like?

"Chavs" are usually bad people by nature, the whole chav lifestyle is obnoxiously anti-intellectual, ignorant, and tasteless. It is easy to tell if someone is a chav after a short period of observation. They will often make decent people feel uncomfortable simply by opening their mouths or walking past in the street (especially in groups of yobs).
I think on smell and taste, yes. Sound also. Sight, maybe.

Yes, and no, you shouldn't really hate them on sight if you can help it, that's being racist.

Please don't devalue the human race by referring to chavs as people. They belong with the animals.
I agree with Liquidus Zeromus. The chav lifestyle is basically anti-intellectual and ignorant.

Every time I go out for a walk I'll always pass a group of loud, agressive teenage girls who, for some reason, have painted their faces orange and are all wearing identical hoodies. Generally, they'll be shouting at a group of teenage boys a few metres away - either swearing at them or asking if they've got any ciggarettes.
Oh, and they always sit at the back of the bus playing awful music on their mobiles.

"Hate" is a strong word, but I can't deny that I definitely take an instant dislike to these kind of people.

Maybe I'm just jelous that I could never be one of them. Or something.

Hate is a strong word.
I wouldn't say it is a matter of hate on sight I think it is more to do with pity on sight.

I am actually pleased you said this. I feel the same way. Pity.

I do look down on them. I'm sure that there are some nice chavs who don't aim to throw their lives away but as half of my year were chavs I'm yet to fijnd someone who fits that description. Though I hate to admit it, as soon as I see a chav I turn my nose up in disgust.

I hate rahs more than chavs for some reason but that's because most chavs in my area are buying A&F,Hollister and Polo stuff or at the very least they are buying imitations.

People wonder why I don't buy any of that stuff, it's becoming the next Burberry.

EDIT: Also this thread is one massive generalisation, I dislike the chavs who hang round in groups and the ones that walk around in town hurling abuse at people or just being very ignorant. I couldn't care less if someone isn't intellectual if they are a nice person, unlike several people on here who are intellectual but have the personality of a piece of toilet paper.....
most people on tsr think anyone that aint middle class/posh and where a hoodie is a chav, the people in the videos in my sig aint chavs, chavs are people thet where tracksuits 24/7 **** gold chains and baseballl caps.

people i do hate however are them posh kids that where skinny jeans and have dyed blond hair.

chavs are beneath animals

one chav I know wanted to be a porn star, she was a humungous fat cow too

Chavs may be annoying, but in reality they're all a bunch of closet queers who want to look tough because they don't have a brain, they're not really dangerous though. Real gangsters live in America and they would empty an Uzi on you for just looking at them the wrong way.

If you don't like them, then don't hang out with them. They're all pretty stupid anyway, so at least they make good consumers.

My instincts tell them to hate them, since I know I won't like them.

So says modern PC Britain.

Look at the world, is it all benevolence and sunshine?

No. But I do hate people that start up threads such as this one and who imagine that they are superior to the rest of humanity.

I generally don't have a problem with them. Provided they don't annoy people thats fine.
Do I hate chavs on sight?

I think it's fair to say I hold them in contempt. I don't hate people who aren't necessarily intellectuals as long as they're kind, respectful, and generally normal, but a chav is none of these things. I'm talking about the people who wear luminous pink tracksuits, think having an entire kennel of staffies is a good idea, and insult or attack people for the way they dress, way they act, way they look, assumed intellect (in a chav's eyes, more intelligent = less worthy of respect) failure to supply a lighter or change for the bus, and who listen to ****** music blaring out of some low-end Sony Ericsson or Nokia on the bus. I also hold people who act like chavs but know better in even more contempt.
To me, being a 'chav' means acting a certain way..

If I saw someone in a tacky tracksuit with a cap balancing on the back of their head and a fake gold chain, sure I could make some assumptions, but I wouldn't really care unless they randomly tried to start a fight with me or something, at which point they'd be a chav..

It's the same down town in clubs, nearly every lad looks the same and wears the same stuff, but only a percentage of those lads are probably chavs and are out looking for trouble or something..

So yeah, don't judge a book by it's cover and all that, a chav to me is defined by how someone acts, not by what clothes they wear.
Nah I don't hate them I just laugh a little to myself.
