Re: The Manchester City Society IIYeah - he labelled Torres a one-season wonder yesterday.(Original post by Slick Fosbury)
**** me. That argument used to drag on for 5 pages.
Have we got better at arguing or are the trolls less persistant? Also does T. Adams still post? -

Re: The Manchester City Society IIyou do realise that Jack Wilshere has played one full season at Arsenal and didn't play one minute last season?(Original post by Slick Fosbury)
What a boy aha.
Wonder if he's still got a man crush on Wilshere after he flopped as a top talent. 6 total assists and goals in nearly 3 seasons of PL football
If you've ever watched the guy play you'd know that at 19 years old, he was already the best English midfielder in the country. Not that Man City would know anything about youth development...

Re: The Manchester City Society IINo. He's a great talent, but he's been massively hyped up. He'll also never be the same player again after all these injuries. Also, I really don't know why people use the youth situation against us. We've only had the investment for 4 years now, to set up a system such as United's it takes years, we're not going to be producing talent straight away - you're an idiot if you think that. Anyway, I bet you my left testicle we've got far more exciting players coming out of our EDS team at the moment than what Arsenal have got/poaching from Southampton.(Original post by Zürich)

Re: The Manchester City Society IIYou do know that Man City have one of the best youth developments/academy in the country? Pre-Sheik money, City had very little and brought through numerous youth players and had done for years.(Original post by Zürich)

Re: The Manchester City Society II+1.(Original post by Laertes)
Ridiculous as ever, Zurich.
Also ridiculous to suggest an academy that produced Richards, M. Johnson and SWP is a failure. -
Did they produce Sturridge or was he from somewhere else?(Original post by Kevmeister)

Re: The Manchester City Society IIHe could well still become a main stay in an Arsenal side than perennially finish 4th or there abouts. I have no doubt about that.(Original post by 419)
Oh really now.
But as a top talent, the kind who will knock teams like Germany out of the euros or score twice in the champions back yard, he is over. I'll quite happily call it now. Wilshere will never be the key player in a side that wins a CL, PL or international competition.
Top talents go on to great things. Wilshere will not. -
Re: The Manchester City Society II
Also we've played a major role in the development of Hart, Sturridge, Richards, SWP and Ireland. All four have shown, at various stages, that they could be considered the best players in their age group and position. That some have left, and others have faultered, is just the way football works and not a reflection on our youth policy.
Then there's the players that kind of bulk out this kind of list like Onouha, Weiss, Boyata, Barton (Who I very much rate but cba with including him in the above detracting from my point) etc.
This is while battling with United for the local talent. -

A load of pathetic conjectures. How can you call such thing?
I guess Gerrard isn't a top player. Totti is also an average professional.
Don't know why people feel the need to get jeolous when there's a top player at another club. I really don't. Just appreciate ffs.
Maybe it's due to small person syndrome. Haters gonna hate i guess.Last edited by 419; 24-07-2012 at 19:16. -
Re: The Manchester City Society IIHow so? They've both been playing for clubs that've been finishing in relatively 'mediocre' positions for most of their careers- which is what he's getting at.(Original post by Kevmeister)
Bad choice of players to make your point. ....
They've both done great many thngs and will definetly go down as one of the legends of the game. -
Re: The Manchester City Society IIThey've both won things with their club, and in Totti's case, with his country too. I think his main point was that he believes, as his prerogative, that Wilshere won't go on to do much of note in his career, ie win much, which is what football at elite level is all about, despite Wenger/Gazidis saying otherwise.(Original post by 419)

Re: The Manchester City Society II
Kev has got it in one.
Wilshere will probably be a good player and if he wants to move clubs he could play a part in sides that win things. But he'll go on to have a career similar to Gareth Barry's depending on when he finally joins a top club. That's compared to a career like Lampard or Gerrard, ie top talents who play a major role in winning major competitions.
Nothing wrong with that in itself, I have a lot of respect for Barry. But Barry never had the same potential as Wilshere.
