writing task help

Ne1 know how to provide a summery around a side of A4? Do i need to use quotes from what i am summerising and then elabortate on those quotes or do i just write what is written but in my own words? as i have to do harvard referencing but i dont see how I can provide this if I have changed the words of what was said.

I hope this makes scense? ne1 know what i mean?

A summary of what? Who is it for? Is it part of a thesis or a piece of coursework?

A summery of certain points in a book that interest me. it is just a short task after reading the book. I have never done this before so am quite stuck in how to lay it out and harvard referencng. Do i write a quote, reference it and then elaborate on it or do I write what the author has written but in my own words? and then do the referencing at the end and say what the book was and the name of the author.
