Biology or History

One of my friends asked me to post this as she is having real trouble choosing between the two. She got A* in both of them at GCSE and she wants to be a primary school teacher. She's also taking maths, chemistry and music but has been really stuck on the fourth choice for months and still can't make up her mind. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If she wants to be a primary school teacher, history would probably be the better choice. If she wants to specialise in science or if she wants the easier option then definitely do biology.

biology, goes better with chemistry and maths.

Why don't see do 5 subjects and do both? She has the potential to if she got A*'s in them

she's definitely not doing 5, and it won't fit into the timetable anyway

Which does she find more interesting?
History

She can't decide she likes them both and is good at them both. She did hope she'd get different grades so then she'd pick the better one but that didn't work.

Pick whichever she enjoyed the most/ the one that your school is better for/
Which class has more of her friends in?

Well she's in my biology class now, and if she swapped to history she'd have some of our other friends in that class. She talked to the timetable teacher and it would be a straight swap without interfering with any of her other subjects. She'd also have the best teacher for that subject whichever one she decides on.

She wants to be a primary school teacher post-grad, but does she have any clue about her plans for uni? For instance if she wants to study a humanity then having history in there would be more useful than biology.

So there's no straightforward course for primary teaching at uni?

Well yeah there is but it's not the necessary route, could go bachelor's degree and then PGCE instead

I think she's just planning on the fastest way possible and I think she'd decided on primary teaching since she'd been in primary school and never really considered any other career paths

Biology, more options, still can be a primary teacher, if she ever decides to switch to secondary, more openings in Biology/Science anyhow.

Plus Bio is awesome.

(not that im biased or anything)
More people take biology than history, so history would probably be the better choice.

I took both history and biology for AS, (got A* for both at GCSE), and are continueing them for A2 this year; I enjoy both but there were moments when I really hated history, I found it more stressful than Biology; so got an A in bio and a B in history for AS level. So personally I'd say biology is the easier subject however history can be more interesting.
