Ireland!

But Auferstanden Auf Ruinen (anthem of the old GDR) is great, although it's no longer in use.

What do you think is the best national anthem? Maybe you like the marseillaise, perhaps deutschland uber alles; hell, you might even favour god save the queen. My backing, based purely on the anthem itself and removing the connatations, is for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtU3vUOa2sw

I also have strong sympathy for the soldier's song, and the italian opera-style anthem.

Bear with the first 40s, it is worth it!

Scotland :colonhash:
The USSR anthem 1944 version in Russian by far.
Lithuanian for me obviously! :innocent:

Italian is really good too though.
La marseillaise of France by an absolute mile for me. Followed by the Russian, then the Mazurek Dąbrowskiego of Poland. Honourable mention must also go to the Cornish National Anthems' (there are two)- Trelawny or Can Tus West (Song of the Western Men), and Bro Goth Agan Tasow (Old Land of Our Fathers).

Dear land of my fathers,
Whose glories were told
By bard and by minstrel
Who loved thee of old;
Dear country whose sires,
That their sons might be free,
Have suffered and perished for thee!
Wales! Wales!
Land of the mist and the wild!
Where'er I roam,
Though far from home,
The mother is calling her child.

North Korean, ofc.
I've always loved the Italian one.
I like the Spanish one too, the fact it has no words.
