lol! She's applying to the new college because she wants to go somewhere with self catering. I think it's her first choice because she just fell in love with Durham, although she also likes Manchester especially as they'd give her lots of money :wink:

I am now very scared of the 16:1 ratio

I'm fairly sure that it's not like Oxbridge and it's the department that considers whether or not to take you. I'm applying to St Mary's though, as it's the only not-quite-so-competitive one that I thought was genuinely attractive, and if I was lucky enough to get an offer I wouldn't really want to be moved to one of the colleges I really didn't like...
