Best Uni for Media?

Hi, after 4 years of being stuck in a dead end job, I have decided to go back to college and get educated again. This is largely in part because of my girlfriend. She gave me the confidence to believe that I'm not too old (I'm 22) and that I can do it. I also want her to be proud of me, and able to tell people about what I do without mentioning that I work in a place with no prospects and sit around all day waiting for my shift to begin.
So I started college last week. Media first diploma level 2. I know I have at least 3 years of college to do before thinking about Uni, but I was wondering, if anyone knows which Unis are the best to go for media, this may be slightly vague as there are so many sectors in the media industry. But until I have covered a few of these sectors over the next year, I don't know where I will want to end up. But I would still like to narrow the list of potential Unis down for when I do know and find out what I'm going to need to get in.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Ginger Biscuit.

i've heard de montfort's dead good when it comes to media.
uclan's not too bad either
I know I'm biased, but Lincoln is really good - my Media Production course is one of 5 (I think) in the UK that's BBC accredited, plus you get to do 6 different areas in the first year then specialise in second and third. Really good facilities too.
Im at Lincoln, apparently its good for media. The course is okay.

your probably best thinking what you want to do and making sure your degree caters for that otherwise a media degree could be quite worthless

Bournemouth, great place to be too
a degree in media is not an education
I'm applying for Winchester and Lincoln for Media production, they were both really nice uni's with very technical media equipment. I'm also going to look at De Montford next week. (i'm applying for 2011).

You do realise that everybody on TSR will give you a snide and humiliating response. Primarily because your asking academic students what is the best university for Media... The most futile subject to ever be studied at degree level.

Aberystwyth, Westminster, Goldsmiths, Reading, Northumbria and UCLAN I would recommend. Depends on the entry req I guess. Personally I dislike Lincoln, just didn't like the Uni.. and jeez the area.
To everyone that responded positively, thankyou. To those that didn't I couldn't care less what you think of my chosen course in life. I came here seeking advice, expecting a certain level of maturity from people who will one day be our doctors and lawyers etc etc. Sadly, it seems that for the most part I was wrong. Next time you're going to watch you're favourite film or TV programme, or listen to the radio. Sneer at the people who entertained you, because a majority of them would have studied media.
