PC not doing much.......
So anyway, I decided I would try to build a new pc, and after a few hours, managed to complete it. Thought I'd give it a whirl and when I press the power button, everything makes a noise, all the fans whir, HD spins, disk drive works, yet my moniter doesn't recieve any signal.
I'm mysteriously missing a 4-pin 12v connector from my psu even though there was supposed to be one apparently(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...23&subcat=1709 - I'm on a budget), so there's nothing in the atx; all I have supplying power to the motherboard is a 20+4 pin. Am I to take it that this is the problem and I simply need to locate that mysterious 4pin 12v connector or get a psu that has it, or have I borked one of my parts during construction, and so my sig wholly represents what I will probably be doing for a while?Last edited by Susant; 23-09-2010 at 00:48. -
Re: PC not doing much.......
Thanks for your help guys, somewhat more relaxed knowing its probably the atx thing.
As shown in the link, its 650W, which is reasonable I suppose. Either I have a really crap one (thought OCuk were supposed to be good?), its a defect, or I'm having a derp moment and didn't spot it all those hours. -
Re: PC not doing much.......
OcUK isn't a great brand. What parts do you have in the rig? I'll be frank, even on a budget if I was given the choice of 555BE and good PSU or 1050T and crap PSU, I'd go with the former every time. If your PSU blows it will almost def. take at least something with it and can take everything with it. PSU is the last place to cut back on quality.
Depending on what parts you have in the rig, you might be able to get away with a decent 400W or 500W PSU that is a similar price.
