Are you sure you used the right port (i.e. you used the HDMI port on your graphics card rather than on your motherboard, if you have a graphics card - that is).
Yeh used HDMI on back of graphics card.

Something seems off..........try a different hdmi port on the graphics card and then check your laptops setting for the input

Is the card properly seated on the mobo? Try using integrated graphics and see what happens. If that works then your card is probably a dud :/

Will an HDMI port necessarily be enabled to start with? My card has 2 DVI ports and sometimes only one will work initially.

Yeah, i got 5 ports, but only would work, I would have to set up the other ones before they work, though I think he's only connected one port.

Would not having the drivers installed be an issue?

Is the CPU fan attached to the CPU fan header (not a system fan one) and is it 2, 3 or 4 pin?

My ram is supported. I have two 4GB sticks, one seems to be faulty as it boots with one but not the other

You did put them in slots 1 and 2 yeah? Have you tried booting with JUST the ram you think is faulty?

Yeah I tried booting with each ram, one worked one didn't. No I had them in slots 1 and 3? But then the one stick doesn't work at all.
