Skyrim, Portal, Assassin's Creed... But this is not necessary if it will work out too expensive (which it most likely it will). So it's not important, just a bonus lol.
Yeah I've considered the effort. The only time I will bring it home is during Christmas holidays and during the summer.. this year will be my last year anyway so I'm not too bothered about that.

I've done stuff to try and make my laptop faster. It was ridiculously dusty! But I still want something new

Have you got a windows dvd from your current laptop?

If you do, have you thought about building a desktop?
If not try DinoPC or PCspecialist, the latter is more expensive as it gives more areas of choice.

If you cleaned out the dust it can seriously help speed things up, opening up ventilation, the other options are more tricky.

Thanks for the answer!
Haha, I know Norwegian prices look daunting, but £1 =/= 9 NKR so it's all good
I'll definitely look into cooling pads, I do so like my games haha
Asus it is, then!

Thanks a lot, again

Ok

Especially for gaming, it can get quite hot, a good one is the coolermaster u3, got 3 movable fans but quite expensive around £30

I've always wondered, why do people never self build laptops, or is it completely impractical?

You can self build laptops, however the technology hasn't been quite as commercialized as desktop building. It's in the foreseeable future for sure...

You know if you had a good £100 million laying around it would be a good investment to producing a good range of self laptop building products. You would need all the major players to help you out though.

The issue is, that it takes a bit more effort, well quite a lot more effort to build one, so as a result you have got many technology firms bothering to deal with such a market as they don't see it as profitable the desktop market.
So it's very hard to sort for parts, particularly brand new to create your own.

Until Asus, ASrock, Biostar, Gigabyte, etc start making motherboards for laptops and graphics card, it won't happen.
Than you need case companies to start making shells, it'll honestly take a few years so demand builds up for it as people are moving to portability quite a bit.

Excellent, cheaper there as well

Good luck finishing your build

Thank you! I have a feeling I'll need it! I'm sure you'll see me on here next week panicking 'cause I can't find a cable or something.

You'll need to remind me to rep you too cause I've run out :h:

Looks good to me. Some seem to say that Acer are a bad make but I've had a few of their products with no issues so I'm not sure..

I loved my Acer laptop, I'd probably still have it today if I hadn't have dropped it and smashed the screen :frown:

Ok thanks so much for the suggestions! I'll definitely check them out

Would say the same as Hassi94, it'll be based on individual experience to be fair, but currently it's rated at the bottom for reliability, though the laptop is a new model, so you never know
Scan & Corsair have discounted low profile 8GB Vengeance memory, £30: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-(2x4gb)-corsair-ddr3-vengeance-jet-black-lp-pc3-12800-(1600)-non-ecc-cas-9-9-9-24-xmp-15v
Quiet a good deal IMO.

what about that one in comparison? i don't want to spend more than £630, but want it to be reliable and long lasting if that's possible

I would the say graphics are quite similar to be fair.

Processor wise, i7 would be unnecessary for gaming and can make it worse, plus the first is a 3rd gen cpu while the other is 2nd gen, the 3rd gen is more power efficient.

Plus the new link is from the range, that has let down Acer in my view.
Ok basically i need advise i'm looking to buy a computer for coursework and light gaming. First off this PC is going for (£200) is it worth it? Also is this PC powerful enough to be able to play newer games out such as Battlefield 3? Thanks
