AS Level Maths Help!!!!

Hiya,

Could anyone please help me out on how to work out the following question:

a) By completing the sqaure, find in terms of k the roots of the equation
x^ + 2kx - 7 = 0

b) Prove that for all value of k, the root of x^ + 2kx - 7 = 0 are real and different.

c) Given that k = √2 find the exact roots of the equation.

Thanks in advance.

Well, i've done this so far:

x^ + 2kx = 7
(x+k)^ - k^ = 7
(x+k)^ = k^ +7
x+k = k +- √7
x = +-√7
