Deferring entry once already started?

I've just started University but would like to defer it until next year for personal reasons. Is this usually possible or would I need to withdraw & re-apply?

It would be at the discretion of the department/uni you are doing your degree in. Contact your advisor of studies/personal tutor/head of teaching ASAP (and make sure you tell them it is for personal reasons rather than on a whim!).
