Lord Browne: Your view on the 50% goal
What is your view on the "50% of A level students go to University" dreamed up by Labour, is it appropriate, desirable, and/or feasible? Even if we weren't in a recession, should we be sending 50% of our A level students to University? Quality or quantity...?

I'm guessing he thinks it's okay considering he said in another thread that he wants a 10% increase in student numbers, or something of the sort? :indiff:

mm, but we may only have 30%, and he wants it +10% to 40% if you see what I mean. IMO this was one of the more ridiculous Labour education policies so I want to see what he makes of it.

Hmmm unfortunately I don't know what the current % is :p: I think 50% IS a bit silly, though.

I think atm we're about 35%. Not too sure though. I agree 50% is ridiculous.
