Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadHii i was just wondering if you had heard anything back from gloucestershire yet?(Original post by EmilyD3)
Hey
I've applied for General Primary at Chester and Primary Education at Bangor, Edge Hill, Gloucestershire and LJMU.
I've got interviews at Edge Hill and Gloucestershire at the end of November.
Has anyone else applied to these universities?
i had an interview there around early/mid december.
Ive also applied to Reading and Hertfordshire. Has anyone else applied to these? Im doing the art specialism at Reading -
Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadTo be completely honest i can't remember it that well as i did it last year however it was on something like do children start structured learning to early. As in do they have very little play and saying how it affects them and their learning and i think it mentioned about foreign countries starting their children at a later age.
It was really that hard to do just use your own experience and common sense and you should be fine

Hey
Yeah I've got a conditional offer! It's not even high grades, I think I could get CCC at A2 and get in because I have a B at AS.
My one was international education studies though - it's mostly the same except some modules are focussed on different countries and their education systems. There was also early years education studies, or just education studies - just a few modules different I guess on all of them! Which one did you apply to?
thats awesome. so do you reckon you'll be going there? i've applied for just education studies, but the international education studies sounds pretty good too, so i'm sure you'll enjoy that (:

Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadThanks! It all depends on my other choices and what they reply, really! I love Plymouth & UWE and their degrees would leave me a qualified teacher at the end, whereas with Bath Spa you have to do a PGCE year don't you. It's my back up really I think(Original post by chazzehchaos)

What about for you? Where else did you apply?

Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadSorry about the late reply, was away over Christmas(Original post by gemimajam)
Haha it's cool. I got an email today to my normal email address. I sent my application in September I think. When did you send yours? Where else have you applied?
I didn't send mine until the first week in december. I've applied to Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Strathclyde. I've not heard anything yet except a few acknowledgements
Good luck for your interview!

:
Just to let you know at one of the interviews I went to (Plymouth) we did our exams and the girl before we started if they got any extra time or anything because she was dyslexic. Obviously a different scenario but they gave her extra time if it was declared on their application form or if the university was aware of it beforehand. It might be worth asking anywhere that interviews you in advance if they give you anything like that to help and make the test more fair for everyone(Original post by twinkles101)
what was your debate about? I am really scared as im dyspraxic and kinda stupid when it comes to writing. oh god; im really worried about this interview. I REALLY WANT TO GO BRIGHTON

Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadHey(Original post by Emilyread)
Hi I have an interview at Brighton and UWE coming up for Primary Early Years does anyone else? Very nervous and dont really know what to expect. Any ideas what they might be like?
I had an interview for Primary Early Years Education on the 24th November. It's quite a nice interview really! You register and they check your GCSE certificates and ID and then you all go to watch a presentation about the course in a lecture theatre. You'll be put in a group either A or B and you'll have a number too, for example I was in group B4. 'A' group goes and does the interview while B group does the literacy task first. The literacy task is an essay, it was about praising children I think
You have 40 minutes to do it in, but can have extra time if you have a special need. Then there is a break. B group then goes onto the interview and A group onto the literacy test. In the group interview it is in a group of around 4/5. Firstly everyone, in turn, presents their poster and then you get asked a series of questions (around 5) and you discuss the answers within the group. The interview panel consists of a local headteacher and a UWE admissions tutor. The staff are really lovely. The questions are not difficult, they're mainly about why you want to teach early years and about work experience.
If you have any more questions or would like help with your poster etc then feel free to quote me for a relpy.
Good Luck

well if you end up going to bath-spa, might see you there xD but i hope that you get either plymouth or UWE as that seems like your top ones (: i also applied at middlesex and oxford brookes for primary education, that like plymouth and UWE would leave me with QTS. also applied at chester for general primary and the UEA for education studies (: have you had any interviews yet? x

Yeah maybe! It's your first choice, isn't it? Well done too! I haven't actually been to the campus because I don't live far away, so I might change my mind on the campus tour day and fall in love with the place for all I know!
Yeah I've had interviews at Plymouth & UWE and have one for Brighton in February. Have you had any, or heard from the other universities? x -
Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadFirstly congrats on your Cumbria offer!(Original post by nataliexo)
i have a conditional offer at cumbria
i got it at the end of november :P
but a rejection after interview from edge hill

:/ that's making me panic now, that you got rejected from edge hill, did they give a reason why? I think I've messed the maths and science tests up :/
How long after the interview did you get the rejection?Last edited by Hannah124; 06-01-2011 at 22:16. -

Hey! Ive applied for edge hill but havent heard back yet whats the interview like?
I'm in 2 minds about how mine went to be honest. We sat and watched a presentation about the course. And then you're put in groups of approx 7 and you read through some childrens books and then discuss them in the group. Then there was the group interview, which lasted around half an hour, the questions were ok actually. Then you do science and maths tests, which I personally found really hard, despite me doing A2 chemistry and biology!
Then you're free to go!
Any more questions, just quote!
Good luck with your application
xx

wow thankyou so much for the detailed reply, very helpful and now I can prepare. you didn't say whether this for UWE or Brighton? and what do you mean about a poster???!! My UWE welcome account thing wont let me log in so I cant access the email about it until they fix it. and also did you have to do any science or maths tests or is that for the general primary degree?
thanks so much

Re: Primary Early Years Education 2011 - Official ThreadOhh maybe that could be a good thing we haven't heard anything then! When did they hear back? Good luck to you for all of your choices, where is your top choice at the moment?(Original post by Hannah124)
No
but I know someone that went on the same day as us and got rejected. So I prosume they would have made the rejections by now. Fingers crossed, we'll just have to wait and see! xx

Good luck for your interview!
