Thomas Truax, Former Bullies, Superkings & Martin Chitty

woo! let's rock it out!

THOMAS TRUAX

Thomas Truax is probably one of the five or ten best singer/songwriters in the world that you've never heard of. An anti-folk artist based in NYC, he hails from the same fertile camp as Jeffrey Lewis and Kimya Dawson.

He merges a fevered imagination, solid songwriting abilities and a groovy showbiz attitude with a mad penchant for weird gadgets. You get darkly witty songs accompanied by weird, home made instruments such as The Hornicator.

He is an illegitimate son of Screamin' Jay Hawkins and a mad scientist of experimental music with a history as a stop-motion animator. His carefully crafted songs range from dark, romantic lullabies to lively rock melodramas. Smart, beautiful, eccentric, exceptional -- if these are the kinds of words you attach to the music you love best, then you simply must catch him at Feedback.

FORMER BULLIES

Former Bullies are a two-piece band based in Manchester with a growing reputation as an exciting live band.

Their songs are human and honest without being overly emotional or nostalgic. Think Neil Young and Frank Black mashed up together and mercilessly churned out on stage. They’ve opened for Giant Sand, Jeffrey Lewis, Herman Dune and King Creosote and have recently completed a UK tour with fellow Manchester based act Nine Black Alps.

SUPERKINGS

Local favourites, Superkings, return to Feedback on the back of two highly successful support stints for Okkervil River in Manchester and Nottingham.

An intricate and bitter piano-pop seven-piece, they take in slow, melodic love songs as well as upbeat jazz-infested punk music. Superkings lyrics tend to come straight from a scarred heart or humorous mind, hinting at mainstream influences from The Beatles and The Smiths.

MARTIN CHITTY

This Scouse student has long been a favourite on the campus music scene performing at LULUMS events such the Open Mic nights and at Grad Bar. He’s since brought his own inimitable style and charisma to Feedback, recently producing a legendary performance with that other darling of the local music scene, Kr!ss Foster, with the ludicrously brilliant duet, ‘Dale Winton’.
