Me? Sarcasm? No not at all, I like wondering about physics and chemistry even though I don't know much about it other than what I need to know.
OMG u sound just like my kind of person serious! i prefer staying in and watching movies to going clubbing hate that kind of atmosphere its so meaningless, n im generally considered a quiet person (albiet by those that dont know me but still) n i love punk rock/ alternative and new wave music i swear if you were to go past my room all ud hear blasting through the window is songs by the killers/ the bravery, evanesence/ kings of leon! n i love smart people who do these subjects like biomed! hmm wat yr are u in uni? cos ive got couple of 2nd yr mates doing biomed at aston uni, im at uni of birmingham myslef doing psychology in my 3rd yr but am not far from aston uni live in curzon gateway but i swear i love hardcore sciences ( just not clever enough to do it!)

Meeee I can be quiet

Gone home this weekend, night in last night, night in tonight, uni again tomorrow, boooooooo :frown:

I like going out but it costs too much, I like tv and hot chocolate (not cocoa, I'd put way too much sugar in!).

Lets meet up! now! lmao im in new build b2... lakeside was my first choice.. ahh dear

We should organise an Aston TSR meetup again.

We did this a couple of years ago when there were only about 10 regulars from Aston on here. Now there's a few more it might be more difficult to all get round a table and chat like we did before!! lol

Haha, i wouldn't say i was "smart"
and just to clarify i am not a person who wants to be a doctor and failed to get into medical school, i actually want to be a biomedical scientist and work in a hospital lab
And i am in my 1st year at the moment and psychology is a pretty smart subject to be doing, i quite like psychology however i don't think i could of done it at degree level, you must be clever to be at uni of bham  lol and no your not to far from the uni
lol i think anyone that can handle doing sciences at degree level or even at a-level is smart in my book! i am realy strugglng with the biology in my degree but thankfully i get a break from it by the other erm "softer" modules, wa exaclty does a degree in biomed entail? when ever my friends talk about it i just go all awe struk! im more of a creative person like to read and write novels, psychology is good but i dont want to stick at it after my degree, yh curzons rli close to aston, anyway from my experience theres quite a few people like urself around its just a matter of finding them cos we do like to chill in our rooms a tad long!

Thats one of the problems for me, I spend way too much time wasting away in my room instead of looking around for people to talk science with.

lol you're in the centre of England's second largest city on a campus with hundreds of bars/clubs 10 minutes away. What can you possibly expect?
I'm up for any discussion, and nothing wrong with a nice quiet evening either.

Where are you all?
Where are all the people that would rather stay in with a cocoa!
Or listen to rock/punk music!
or discuss science or serious issues
or like stuff that isn't mainstream!
:woo: :eek3: :eek3:

I'm finding it ever so difficult to make friends here.:frown:

I'd rather stay in to be honest.
I do like some rock music.
A good discussion never goes amiss.
And mainstream isn't to my tastes.
So yeah, hi there!

But I don't get it... you shouldn't need to have all that stuff in common to be able to make friends. I don't have a lot in common with my flatmates but we all get on really well :yep:

Psychology is classed as a science isn't it?

The biomedical degree involves learning about the human body, cells, microbes, parasites.

As the NHS website states "Biomedical scientists carry out a range of laboratory tests to assist doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of disease."

You can specialise in certain areas:

Ahh, so have you gone off psychology since doing it at degree level? I'm scared i might change my mind and want to do something else, currently the course is hard and i am only just over 2 weeks into it.
I'd really like to get a degree in this, i can't keep changing since uni fees might be going up! (again)

So any plans what you will do after your degree?

I picked this university because of the degree and the modules it had and i like the small campus and having shops around and plenty of hospitals for placement, should i not go to this university just because its in a city and i dislike bars and clubs ?

hmmm

Sure, but it's quite obvious it's going to be infested with avid party-goers.
Coincidentally, I know a guy from my home town who's gone to Aston this year (as a fresher) who's exceptionally quiet.
I think he's doing politics 8)

I get on with my flatmates and i have gone out with them sometimes to try it out and well its just not me! some of them are alot closer friends already and because i don't have that much in common with them i haven't made like really good friends that i go out with alot or just talk to in the evening like now... the one is blasting music and most have gone out... Not a big fan of shouting over music to have a chat

Oooh politics  cool I doubt i will bump into him lol
I'm not quiet, I do enjoy the odd night out clubbing but it is no means my favourite thing to do... I love quiet nights in watching films, talking about stuff that matters  and my music taste stretches outside of the top 40...

I know what you mean, I've been out with my flatmates and it wasn't really for me. I'm getting into it now though, not even gonna lie. They started me on alcohol, haha.

That's a shame though! But there's still time, on a course like yours you're bound to find fellow intellectual minds  either there or on TSR anyway, I know a lot of people here feel the same way, haha.
