A*- Brilliant
A- Good
B- Average
C- Average/slightly bad
D/E- Bad
U- Did you even turn up to any classes?

I don't understand why everyone classes A* much above As in general. Oxford have said that they are not considering the A* after this year, I think it was.
A* = Excellent
A = Very Good
B = Good
C = Average
D = Below Average
E = Unsatisfactory
U = Poor

This coming from someone who got BCDEc.

B C D :cool:
TSR verages are a lot higher than the normal ones, I still don't know why.
I got ABBBb and I worked VERY VERY hard for it and was very proud wheras some people didn't even bother revising and ended up with A*s and As.

Even though the ranking of A levels differs from a subject to an other but generally I think :

A* - Outstanding
A - Excellent
B - Very good
C - Good/average
D - Below average
E - Poor
U - Very poor

I think I agree with you the most. :smile:

Please entertain my whimsical fancy and answer, with your personal opinion, on the level of these grades.

A friend broke it down like this:

A&B - good A Levels
C - average
D&E - awful

Would you agree, or would you offer a differing opinion?

If a D at A-Level is bad, then surely that would make a C at GCSE bad too.

Not that I'm saying either are good...
I find it funny that 'E' begins 'Excellent' and an E grade is 'Awful', whereas 'A' begins 'Awful', and an A grade is 'Excellent'.

TSR version:

A* - Good
A - standard
B - poor
C - very poor
D - Hello tesco night shift
E - hello suicide
U - I pity your parents

Lol, basically sums up general TSR opinion! :biggrin:

I'd agree :smile: Though i'd differentiate D with "poor" and E with "awful".

im so academic
My Opinion:

A* - Excellent
A - Good
B - Retake
C (below) - fail

General Opinion:

A* - Amazing
A - Brillant
B - Good
C - Satisfactory
D - Unsatisfactory
E - Poor
U - Absolutely pathetic

Come back with your opinion after you've experience A-Levels :p:
A*/A- excellent: clever or motivated
B/C- average: average or busy with other stuff
D/E/U- you should have done Btec...

I'm still in GCSE mode where D is a fail though.
I'd agree with A and B being good A Levels and C being average, but I would say D and E were more okay/poor than awful. They're still passes. Surely a U is an awful A Level :p:?

For me I feel A* is excellent, A is average, B is mediocre and anything below is life-threatening.

Hi, alongside my A Levels I take a BTEC in Performing Arts (school didn't offer Drama & Theatre Studies - because the BTEC is a much better course and we get to do lots more :smile:) and it is just as hard as an A Level!
I am fed up of people looking down on BTECs, yes they are a more vocational qualification, but they are not worth any less than an A Level (not in UCAS points anyway)...

Unless you are destined for Oxbridge, and are naturally intelligent, then I think you'll be reassessing your thoughts when you get to it.
