IMDB Top 250 films leaderboard - how many have you watched?

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

I wonder if an icheckmovies.com thread would work. Perhaps a thread devoted to the '1001 Films to See Before You Die' list?
i've got 349, though i've stopped using lovefilm when i started uni and so i watch less mainstream stuff now than i used to. i want to get over half on it one day, but not as a conscious project, just as a by-product of my cinematic exploration.
that said, i haven't seen 3 idiots, but dismissing bollywood is terribly (too) easy, in my experience. and pixar are great, don't know why you're snobbing out there. and of course idi i smotri is just about the best war film ever made. high and low and anatomy of a murder are also really great. so you still have some progress to make in the imdb list without degrading yourself or whatever

I have a somewhat similar approach. I'd like to get through the list, though would not go through any serious trouble to do so.

Since I started using icheckmovies.com, I've abandoned 250films altogether. I think my number on the former is 238 now. Nevertheless, I still have yet to see Three Idiots, The Princess Bride and Rattatouille.

The reason I haven't watched the latter of those films is simply due to the fact that I can't stand Pixar or their facsimile. I absolutely detest a large amount of animation now; much of it, sad to say, as I used to be a huge fan, is throwaway folderol, or as someone once referred to them all, 'post-millennium cock-cud'.

High and Low is perhaps my favourite Kurosawa film; oddly enough, I have a greater enthusiasm for his noir films than I did his trademark samurai work.

I don't like them, and that is the end of that. I shouldn't have to justify myself on a student forum.

I don't want to debate my points of view on a forum! That's not what forum means at all!

Students! The very antithesis of original thought and intellectual curiosity!

I've joined, rated a few movies etc. but how do you, I don't know, 'tick off' the ones you've watched?

Don't worry, I've done it. But why do you have to have a comment? Or can you leave it blank - I'll probably have figured it out by the time you read this...

So far, it's 29. Can't believe the 150+ I've checked off so far on IMDb, only 29 are in the top 250.

Also, why are there no Harry Potters listed?

Well, when I checked this out a few weeks ago I was on 20 something. Now I'm back, I can say I'm on 46. I won't post the picture thing because it hasn't updated itself - it's still on 34 for some reason.

I obviously enjoyed The Shawshank Redemption. And my favourite from the whole list must be Avengers Assemble. But the film that caught my attention most would be Warrior. Really good. Good acting seeing as Tom Hardy is from London. And the fights were very thrilling.

12 Angry Men was good acting. So was Schindler's List. And I've always enjoyed films such as Inception or Avatar - even though it's not in the top 250 (which is pretty stupid...).

I like Lord of the Rings, however, they are not the world's best films! Don't see why everybody preaches about them all the time. And none of the last two or three Harry Potters should be in there either!

But maybe the highlight is that I've not watched any of The Godfather parts.

    That is quite an improvement!

And yes, I would advise anyone to watch 12 Angry Men. Brilliant film.

There are a lot more disagreeable things in his post, seriously.

If you liked 12 angry men, I think you'd like The Odd Couple. Really. Very good. Decent acting (Jack Lemon), decent story, decent ending. Very funny as well. It's also almost all filmed, or set in the apartment, just like 12 Angry Men. One of the actors is also in it (the little squeaky guy)

I agree, but I swear one that was rated above 8.0, isn't in it.

I like both, but the connection is tenuous at best, no guarantee that liking one will increase the chances of liking the other.
