Re: Portuguese Thread!A diplomat! Work for the UN of the Portguese Embassy(Original post by maryllin_18)
I'm not sure yet because I just feel like I'm interested in way too many things/fields. I love to write so my no. 1 choice at first will probably be journalism but I can also see myself in something closer to politics so...

Re: Portuguese Thread!I think the best way to learn is to hang out with people who speak the language... So my advice would be for you to go out a lot, and try to speak to as many people as possible! Going to a uni would be a great idea(Original post by manutd17)
Hi guys; just wandered whether anyone can give me some advice. I will be learning Portuguese from scratch next year during my year abroad. I will be in France but will also dedicate some time to learn Portuguese. I intend to immerse myself and go to Portugal between May and June after my year in France but before I go back to the UK.
Does anyone have advice on what I should do in Portugal to improve my Portuguese? I was thinking about either spending time at a uni there or doing a language class there but they are all quite expensive.
Thanks!
I don't think a language class would be worth it if it's that expensive, you do learn a lot more just listening and talking to Portuguese people. Feel free to message me if you need any help

Re: Portuguese Thread!
Hello!
I'm portuguese and new here...
I'm in my 3rd year (out of 4) at University but want to finish my studies in UK, so I'm applying this year for 2011/2012 if I can.
My choices are University of East London, University of Plymouth, University Campus Suffolk, Northbrook College Suffolk and still undecide about the last one, to finish my Fine Arts course.
Is anyone going to any of these unis this year? Or is there already?

Re: Portuguese Thread!
Hey! Someone kindly posted this in another thread and I thought I'd spread the wealth of information. Please let me know if this is in the wrong spot and I'll remove it, I just think it'll be helpful for future students hoping to apply to the UK. Thanks!

Re: Portuguese Thread!I'm portuguese too and I've firmed Westminster's offer too in International Relations! See you there!(Original post by The Fez)
Well, I was born in Aveiro and lived there for 4 years but I moved to Java :P My dad is partly Portuguese. I don't own a Portuguese passport though (I could get one - just haven't really thought about it because my current nationality doesn't support dual-citizenships)
I might be studying in LSE or Westminster (got offers from both) - International Relations next fall
Yes, hope we can all meet soon in London.

Re: Portuguese Thread!Awesome! Where are you from? I was born in Aveiro(Original post by faah)
I'm portuguese too and I've firmed Westminster's offer too in International Relations! See you there!
I'm planning on taking a trip to Portugal next summer
I'm torn between which to firm, but it'll most likely be Westminster because of the joint honours program with language
