Re: Good BBB/BBC University for Mathematics
Royal Holloway
Think they put their official entry requirement as something like AAB but still apply you'll most probably get in with BBB. This year there are people in with BCC, and one girl I know who's only done GCSE Maths. They say they consider individual circumstances, and RHUL is one of the few unis that actually means it. It's worth a shot I'd say, it's usually in clearing too.
Source: I'm a physics student at RHUL and do some modules from the maths department. -
Re: Good BBB/BBC University for Mathematicswell look at essex, suffolk, UEA (not sure on grades) oxford brookes, london met, maybe teeside (not sure if they do it) the best thing for you to do is to go on ucas course search and check all the ones you wouldn't mind going to, and check their grades, but discard ones you know are high).(Original post by Dam)
Any more recommended universites? I'm looking for similar, but its not my insurance!
Am considering looking at Sheffield Hallam and Manchester Met, would prefer to stay Midlands/North of England too.
Thanks! -
Re: Good BBB/BBC University for MathematicsI went for Reading, got an offer for 300 points with an A in maths or 320 points with a B in maths.(Original post by Leighthesim)

Re: Good BBB/BBC University for MathematicsReading want 320 points so if you have an AS at like an E which is 20 points you'll get in with BBB. (I think an E is 20 points?)(Original post by rainbow_kisses)
Bump, anyone else received BBB/BBC offers this year? -
Re: Good BBB/BBC University for MathematicsI'm doing 4 A levels so hopefully ill meet that(Original post by 0range)

Re: Good BBB/BBC University for MathematicsYou don't mean university of Cardiff right? They wanted straight A's when I applied...(Original post by marcusmerehay)
Yeah, I've heard positive things about Aberdeen.
You might be able to stretch for Cardiff as well, depending on how lenient they choose to be.
What about Keele? -
Re: Good BBB/BBC University for MathematicsKeele ask for an "A" in A level mathematics and 340 ucas points to study their single honours bsc in mathematics. (with 3 A levels you would need to get AAB to meet this offer, or ABBa ish)(Original post by kellywellydoodle)

mattwhu777... A good way to find the answer to your question would be to ether; go to - the Complete University Guide, University League Tables and look at the average ucas score of students in that department (in this case mathematics) to see if it matches your search (I think 100 points is a B so you are looking for around 300 points ish for BBB). Another way, though it is tedious, would be to go onto ucas and search every mathematics course and check their entry standards, or phone the department. It is long winded but you will get a definitive answer.
Another thing you may be interested in is a foundation year, but I will not go into that in this Reply.
hope that helps mattwhu777 -
